In India tomorrow is harvest festival. There are different names to the harvest festival called makar sankranti, poush parbon, bihu, uradi, ganga sagar mela. The first crops of winter are given to God. In Bengal payesh with jaggery is made and a sweet called pati sapta. From now on days becomes longer and winter subsides. Happy Makar Sankranti wishes! I hope that you had a nice celebration at home ! This day is celebrated as the Hindu New Year and in different names like Pongal, Bihu and the ones you mentioned. Many people consume Khichdi or some foods that are a combination of hot and cold foods.
