My long weekend is not over yet .

Good evening from this side of the planet 
it's past 11:PM in the night and I am wide awake. It was a long weekend on account of Makar Sankranti today. The festival is celebrated across the country with different names. And this picture says it all. Last year I had made a post about the significance and scientific reason behind the celebration.
Anyway, officially my long weekend comes to an end and I should have been going to work tomorrow. But then I just received a late night message from my school and it says that I need not come to school tomorrow 
. So, my long weekend continues 
.
The school is open tomorrow. According to the Tuesday time table, I take one to one sessions with two students of Primary school and then have an art session with one group. And these children are going for their class picnic tomorrow. So, the sessions stand cancelled. I knew this from last week. I was expecting a short working day as I had a meeting with my school principal ( a very close friend of mine) to discuss about the new project that we have started and how to take it further ahead. Also, a few other things about the new short course that I wish to do this year etc. She wanted me to come at usual time and finish this meeting and go back home. But she messaged now that there is some inspection from the board tomorrow. It's a regular thing that happens every year. And she would be busy entertaining them. She has to cancel all other things on her schedule as it takes the priority. Our meeting is postponed to Friday morning as I have no early morning session that day. My work starts a little late at 10 on Friday.
So, I get another day to be home. No rush in the morning as husband is still out of station and my younger daughter has a day off to prepare for her next exams starting on Wednesday . I can sleep late, do some mylotting and watch some TV now
So, on work front, it is only my afternoon therapy sessions.

It sounds like you have a rather unexpected twist to your week ahead! But amidst the changes, it seems like a day at home might just be the perfect remedy.

Yes, it's a twist but a most welcome one. I had a good weekend and festival celebration. And then today since morning, I could go for a long relaxed walk in the pleasant weather, enjoyed my late breakfast and did some bit of ironing ( pending from the last two days). Now, I would answer the notifications and then go ahead with some more little things that I have to do around the house.

The routines seem to be changing quite a bit at your end.
Here, we had Online school today due to Local authorities declaration - heavy fog plus minimums of around 3 to 4 C !
This year's cold is more challenging than that of the last winters.
Though I remember the end December 2019 to Mid January 2020 as one of the most challenging winters in the recent times.
And I did not had any WFH option then.
Best of wishes to your daughter for her exams.
Here we have a few upcoming leaves for kids but the Final exams too are starting Mid February.
So lots happening here.
Once again another (or can we say belated) wishes for Makar Sankranti/Bihu/Pongal. ...

Finally we had rains and this has decreased fog.
It's not as cold as before but nights still see a big dip of temperature.
So we need to ne careful and be warm.

Thank you for your wishes. We are still enjoying revadi, chikki etc...so the Makar Sankranti fever is still here.
I am in part time hourly rate job. So, it goes through all the changes in routine.

The school where you are teaching does not seem like a regular school of the kind we had in the good old days. This one on one coaching is not something we had in those days.

It's a regular school in all sense except that they follow some alternative education methods of Waldorf, JJ Krishnamoorti and Montessori. So, is actually a very nice approach for holistic education. It's a school run by a very close friend and she wants to do a lot for special needs children. I am not a regular employee there and I don't enjoy the benefits of a regular teacher there like fixed salary and other benefits. I am not paid for summer vacation and other vacation that other teachers would.
I work on hourly rate( 50 percent paid from fees of the child and 50 comes from parents) and the extra work that is taken by me is either a volunteer work or is compensated by my friend.
I have shifted to this sort of work from 2019. Earlier I worked for school as Montessori adult and special educator full time.

@allknowing Actually, recently schools have started with resource room. Mostly after this current government regime to make sure that Children with academic and other difficulties like emotion and behavioral problems get some one to one sessions with special educators, therapists and counselors to help them cope. I work in the resource room.

I had a good day yesterday. I could finish a few things around the house. That was well utilised day. I am at work now. Have a break of 15 minutes and I just peeped in here.

That’s nice to have an unexpected day off I hope you enjoy your day and am glad you are spending some time here at myLot .
People have mentioned it to me years ago and I thought it may be helpful to mention it to you as well… if you break up your paragraph into smaller ones it makes it easier to read. Then if I have to look up I don’t lose my spot and can find it again easier etc

This post was about last weekend and it went really well.
This weekend also turns out be a long weekend as today we had a national holiday on account of our Republic day.
Thanks for your suggestion. I really appreciate it. I end up writing long posts. I would keep that in mind from next time

Thank you. This weekend was not a good one. I was under weather and felt sick and low on energy. I was mostly in bed. Good that I was better by Monday and did not need a leave from work.

I counsel the young parents and families who are struggling with acceptance and moving ahead after the child is diagnosed with Autism or Dyslexia etc, give some home based programs to them too. I also counsel these young adults to help them cope with the demands in High school, teaching life skills etc. And generic counseling for students in Middle and High school ( though I don't have a qualification to do so). My friend who is the principal there thinks that I do it well and these teenagers feel comfortable with me

I am a special educator and counselor. I have these remedial sessions after school for special needs children and youth. Also, a counseling for the families.

Thank you. It was a good weekend with festival and celebrations. Even this weekend is a long weekend. Today is our national holiday on account of our Republic day. I plan to stay indoors and finish few cleaning chores. I am not feeling too good today. A little bit tired and under weather. So, I am mostly resting today.
