With offline life being as it is where more and more are seen distancing themselves from those around them there is a need for interaction.
What better way than having accounts with writing sites where one can pick and choose those who have common interests, those who have the patience to listen to woes, lend a shoulder to cry on, and appreciate uploaded photos.....
It is said the more we chat the more our brain gets exercised - a sure way to keep our brain healthy

I agree, human interaction is very important. Some people can live as hermits and thrive without it but for most, it is necessary.
I'm surprised you say 'more and more are seen distancing themselves from those around them' - I haven't seen that happening here.
