The Snow is Fun in Kazakhstan

Friends, I am still in Kazakhstan. It's a wonderful place and winter with all the snow around can be fun. The best part one can get pristine slopes to ski at the Ski resort a 2 hour drive from Almaty. A few observations about the country and city. Firstly it's a cheaper place than the UAE or India,. No tourists are there from Europe. Perhaps it's costly to reach here. The per capita GDP is high and people look happy. It's modern with bars and cafes and girls are mod. In the bars one gets to see a lot of fashion. Cuisine is top class and 5 star hotels aplenty. I stayed at the Ambassador. a fine hotel. Almaty has super markets and malls and is a city of over 2 million people. Lots of taxi around and one can also use the electric trolley buses. It's worth a holiday here and with family is fine but a bachelor can also relish with good company. Islam? No trace of it though 70% are Muslim.

Wow, I didn't realize you were still there - long vacation! Sounds and looks like you are having the best time. I hear it is a peaceful country. Did you have Kazakh food?

Yes I tried the local food, especially horse meat. Lots of other dishes you don't get other places, no wonder the people are so sturdy.

@madan02 Horse meat - wow - was the meat "tough"? I saw a video on traditional Kazakh foods . . . I did not know what a lot of it was!
