Based on a play of Agatha Christie and published much later in 1999 by Charles Osborne, "The Unexpected Guest" is one of a kind Murder Mystery.
For one, it doesn't has Hercule Poirot.
Investigators are two cops - A Sergeant and an Inspector.
The story starts with a mysterious murder of a Previously young and aggressive Richard Warwick who is disabled now but randomly shoots through a French Window of his home, sometimes for hunting.
A stranger whose vehicle is stranded in Fog - Michael Starkwedder stumbles upon the scene.
Cops are called soon.
Doubts linger towards a lot of fellows in the house.
Secrets tumble out.
A bizzare ending is on the cards, with an end that we could have guessed but looks a bit out of sync of the story flow.
The suspense and the build up is neither too heavy nor too dull.
At moments, it seems things are going nowhere but something drastic happens.
Overall a good read although I took a lot of time due to multiple reasons.
