Are any ads as good as they seem?

I see ads all the time of things that sound so great. Then I wonder am I just throwing my money away. Have you tried any products that are as good as they sound? Before I buy I have been burnt too often. So I like to buy something at Walmart at least I can see what I am buying.

I am cautious and skeptical when it comes to buying anything. Weather it be in-person or online. More and more often, products are hyped up way to much.

I wonder even if the product reviews are from real people. So I guess you have to go by word of mouth. There has to be a better way? Maybe we can think of one?

@Itsonlyadream Depends on where you're getting your reviews from. For example: product review channels on platforms like Youtube are from real people. When you look on Amazon, you have to have an amazon account and reviews go through a review process before they're published on the product page. In some cases, a bot could in theroy, post a fake review. You see this most commonly on scam sites. But, scam sites also make it glaringly obvious, because none of them know how to speak English. So, you either get a review riddled with mistakes, and odd spacing issues or you get a review that's so off the rails, they aren't actually talking about a product.

@kaylachan Years ago you just went by Consumer Reports they gave the good and the bad. Are bots computer generated by people or companies to make other people believe anything is true? How do these companies make money? From selling products that don't exist or cheaper versions of good products that don't work?Thank you for your tips.
