Beans and Peas.

I'm starting the Peas and Broad Beans (fava beans) today. I'm going to start the peas sprouting indoors as the mice ate the ones I sowed directly last year. I had to carefully position the trays I sowed the rest in so the mice couldn't get them and just hope that the pigeons didn't figure out what was in the trays. I didn't have the mini greenhouse then so although I outwitted the mice, the peas were vulnerable to wood pigeons. I'm also soaking some broad beans before sowing them in pots in the greenhouse. It's been quite warm the last couple of days but I still think we're due some cold weather even if broad beans are quite hardy. I've chosen a red-flowered variety to try this year so they might be pretty as well as productive.
