A new responsibility

It was sometime in January that the members of the Cooperative Housing Society of which I am a part of, decided to make me the Chairperson from the new session. The reason being, no one else is willing and most of the members are old. Some of them had had their posts, in pen and paper. With me taking it up, there was a change. I intended to bring the change. I wanted them to see that change can be brought if one is willing to. So, when I saw a handful of people turning up on the day, I took office (voluntary job), I decided to make meetings regular. This intention of mine did not go well with a few still holding posts but I went on with my plan, nonetheless. The book of rules and regulations being given, I got a resident of thirty years become a member. He had appealed but his appeal was not taken seriously. This gentleman is a lover of animals and described how once he had saved a dog at the railway station. I know that I need active members and with the work schedule that a few are engaged in, I need to adjust with their timings. There was an issue with the community cleaning left unattended for a long time. I, along with some senior members, went today to the area municipal corporation and narrated our problem to the chairperson. She documented the appeal and will be following it up. I am happy, that I have the time to take up and address community issues apart from my regular work. This responsibility is ennobling and relieving.

Absolutely. It is helping me improve upon my social skills. I was an island earlier.
