Useless trivia/I like trivia

Something I've come to realize is that I know a ton of useless trivia about a lot of different things but have never really gone beyond surface level of anything. I can tell you about all kinds of things because I read a lot but I also can't go far into almost anything. Part of it is attention span because I don't really have one most of the time except for the times I hyperfocus. At the church dinner, I go to on Wednesdays they do some brief trivia after dinner there's no prize or anything if you get it right but I usually don't do too badly I can usually get at least one or two questions correct sometimes more depending on the subject matter with the exception of this last week when I didn't get a single one but I'm always amused at how well I do sometimes. I would do horrible at jeopardy but I do ok with trivia like they do at the dinners and in a lot of board games. At our family Christmas party, we played a board game that had four different generations of questions from boomers to Gen Z, and my brother's wife and I answered most of the questions for our team and did really well. My niece called us nerds. I do especially well in the entertainment category and fairly well in history and language arts. I was surprised at how much I knew. I don't always do well it really was a matter of luck as to which questions we got. We have a friend at the church dinner who is amazing at trivia and I sometimes wish we all had the time to put together a trivia team for some of the trivia activities they do in town but we are all super busy. I do decent enough that I'm usually a first pick for our family board games when it comes to trivia but not decent enough I could ever be on Jeopardy or Who Wants to be a Millionaire. I still love trivia games and I love learning things. Over the years I would find something I was interested in and learn everything I could about it. One of my obsessions that has always stayed with me is my obsession with learning about old Hollywood. I love learning about how the studios ran and about the actors. My dad used to try and argue with me over a lot of things and I was like this is not an argument you'll win. He may be from the generation but I've studied about every book I could get my hands on and watched a lot of documentaries. My mom has seldom argued with me about it because she knows how much I've read about it and watched about it. She likes to call me and ask me random questions like "Who was that actor who was in that movie with that one actress?" Sometimes in those exact words in which I need to make her clarify and she'll be like "they had blonde hair and an accent" or something random but usually it'll be just enough for me to guess it. It's funny how our interests are all so different and can determine what things we learn about. I love how different everyone is that their interests evolve into different things that they can share a lot about. At work, I love when I get to share certain things with the kids. I love sharing the things I love with people who are interested in hearing about them because a lot of the time no one I know actually cares about anything I'm interested in which is fine but it's nice when you find people who want to listen and are not just being polite.

I usually do okay at trivia, too. I was on a trivia team at a local pub recently, and we won first place, which was a $25 gift card to spend at the pub. Not bad :)

That's great, I've never won any money from it.
