Here is another drawing that I've done ready to paint. It is of the ruins of something, so I've called it The Abbey ruins. I drew a 1cm border around my paper first. Then I began the drawing itself. In the foreground is an entrance way in the shape of a keyhole. I measured my reference photo first (15cm or 6 inches) then I measured the area of the paper that I'm going to be drawing on (minus the border). I measured how far up the picture the ledge of the wall is, before it becomes the round part of the keyhole shape, then I drew that in, and the same with the other side. Then I drew the area that is the round part of the keyhole shape. Then I drew in the separate bricks, making sure I included the detail that gives it that old, ruined look. After I'd drawn the basic keyhole entrance, I started on what can be seen through it. The ruins are in three basic parts, the keyhole entrance in the foreground, a middle distance wall, and an area in the far distance with an arched window. I drew the middle section next. This area is covered in bushes and trees to some extent, so I've just drawn a basic shape of where they will be. I drew in the bricks on this wall a lot smaller than the bricks in the keyhole shape, to show that this area is further away. This is called linear perspective. After that I drew the wall in the distance, the tower and the arched window. There are only a few bricks visible in this part, ones that are out of alignment in the tower, so most of the bricks will just be represented by a small line or a different shade, to show that this area is further back still. There are some small flowers dotted around, and some grasses in the foreground, and these will be painted in so I've just drawn in a few lines and squiggles to represent them. It took me just half an hour to draw this. I thought it was going to take me longer. I don't know whether I'll get to paint this on Thursday. I want to concentrate on finishing the flower painting first, but I'll see how I get on. This is the second to last sheet of paper from the A3 acrylic paper pad that I bought when I was at art class! I can't believe I've nearly used it up already! Have you been doing anything interesting today? We're having fish and chips tonight from the chippy. (Well, I'm having fish and mushy peas!) I hope you are all well and having a nice day.

You have done everything technically right about the drawing.. I am sure that it will come out really well after the painting. Fish and chips is a very popular dish. Isn't it? Why are you having mushy peas instead of chips?

Thank you very much, I'm glad you think so. I hope so. Yes, it is. I don't eat potatoes, so I'm having mushy peas instead. (Potato is not recommend on a macrobiotic diet.)

@sharonelton Oh! I see. I have never followed any diet and I am not aware of such things. Thank you for the clarification. I am insulin dependent diabetic. I have to be careful with my diet. My mantra is to have low carb diet and to eat everything in moderation. Also, enough exercise to keep my sugar on track. Any specific reason for you to go for macrobiotic diet? Share it only if you are comfortable doing so.

@arunima25 That's OK. I'm sorry to hear that. My Mum was borderline diabetic but she was told to cut down her sugar and she hasn't heard anything about it since so I presume she's OK. I read a book by one of my favourite actors, Dirk Benedict, called Confessions of a Kamikaze Cowboy. In it he tells you how he cured himself of prostate cancer by diet alone. That was the Macrobiotic diet. He secluded himself for six months and ate nothing but rice and beans and daikon, which is Japanese white radish, and drank only bancha tea. (Ofcause you don't have to restrict yourself to just these on a macrobiotic diet, but he restricted himself to these because of trying to cure himself) he got advice from a Japanese expert in the Macrobiotic diet. And he's about 78 now, so I think it worked. So I decided to go on the Macrobiotic diet, not because I was ill, but because I wanted to keep from being ill. But when I went on the Macrobiotic diet I lost weight, I'd put on weight because of my underactive thyroid, and my arthritis went away. Win win. Thank you very much, Dirk Benedict.

Your drawing is looking good. Yesterday my husband's surgery was aborted when his blood pressure dropped and his heart rate was too high. Being transported to Cleveland Clinic to have the surgery done there. You have a nice day too.

Thank you very much. Yes, I hope it goes well. I wasn't very confident about this picture. I'll have to watch some more YouTube videos.
