Food prices are increasing, especially rice as the staple food in our country has now reached 17,000 rupiah or the equivalent of 1.0806 USD. Many people complain about increasingly difficult economic conditions. What is the condition of food prices in your country?

Yes, food has gone up in price literally in every country. It doesn’t make it any easier, but it has. I waste nothing.

@MarieCoyle Increasingly soaring prices mean we have to look for ways to earn additional income.

The prices here are outrageous, and I can’t even describe the hardship people are facing. Food banks around here are being depleted.

@astutimeliana723 The alternative could be to increase the productivity of Rice if grown in your place. Or import it from countries that do not charge too much.

Yes, you are all right, the price of rice here is almost double than usual. This really torments people from lower to middle economic levels.

Oh that sounds very high! Isn't the Government taking some measures to control this state of affairs. Or the finance minister?

@astutimeliana723 Fuel prices indeed have a big influence overall.

Of course the government has taken several steps to overcome this, especially providing food assistance to poor people. However, the small amount of assistance certainly does not help overcome it significantly. The best solution is to reduce fuel prices, because this affects all prices on the market.

Food prices are about the same as inflation. If one thing goes up so does everything else.

@astutimeliana723 In most cases, inflation is to blame for the price hikes. The cost to keep the chickens alive, for example, to lay the eggs, climbs. Therefore, that goes to the consumer.

@kaylachan Yes, that's also true, inflation makes money decrease in value.

Apart from inflation, it may also be due to post-election factors here. Our president will soon be replaced.

That's very cool, but how do we save, while prices are rising is the most important and urgent thing. Such as staple food and fuel.

I'm not sure what the main cause is. But in Indonesia, usually because it coincides with the arrival of the month of Ramadan, food prices are used to rising when approaching Ramadan and before Eid.

Yes, they've been increasing for a while now. If gas and electricity go up, everything else goes up. My fat butt can afford to eat less.
