No Cable TV Since Early 2015

I walked away from cable tv in mid-2015. At some point I invested in a ROKU streaming device and never paid for cable again. I am so glad I did. I had paid for Netflix and HULU for years before that and still do HULU. I gave up Netflix several months ago due to nothing there worth watching anymore. I pay a small fee for Paramount+ as well. A couple other channels I share with family members. If I want news, I go directly to websites with the news I want, or YouTube for the news I want. Facebook gives me news reports from the local stations I follow. There are so many options for the kinds of tv and movies I enjoy most. I especially like binge watching favorite television shows from the past and even those that continue into the present time. I love the old classic movies I get to watch that bring back memories of younger days growing up watching them with my mom. She brought me up on old musicals and much more. Now there are reality shows that I enjoy such as various cooking competitions, things like Battle on the Beach and Battle on the Mountain which are remodeling competitions, and the regular ones like Survivor, Amazing Race, and Big Brother. I like Flea Market Flip and crime docuseries like Paula Zahn. There really is something for everyone, and most of it is totally free, although some have commercials. But then cable has commercials. But a lot of the free streaming is without commercials as well. I also watch YouTube on my ROKU. I pay a small fee to watch without commercials there which makes viewing much better. YouTube also carries many movies and tv shows. Although I do pay small fees for some of these, it does not come anywhere close to what I would pay if I were still using cable tv. Now recently, ROKU updated and added LiveTV to it. In LiveTV they have maybe a couple thousand channels. It seems that way, anyway. It isn't actually live like we see live on cable. But it offers more options than you can imagine. All for free. Do you still use cable tv? Do you use a streaming option such as ROKU or the Amazon Fire streaming device? Or do you use both cable and streaming devices?

Our cable bill has become insane. It's close to $300 a month for internet, TV and phone. We also have Hulu. Have a good weekend.

My phone is $40. My internet is $60. My original ROKU device was a one time $35. The one I have now I won in a raffle but did not spend the amount that it would cost in the store. I spend less than $50 a month on the few streaming channels that charge. Everything else is free. So that means about $150 a month. Plus I have free digital tv with local channels where I can get the news if I really need to. I hope you can find a less expensive way to get internet, tv, and phone,

@capirani I think the cable and satellite companies are all taking advantage of their customers.

I use neither. We have smart TV but I mostly watch You Tube for all kinds of entertainment and news.
