Yesterday my oldest got sent home from school. The nurse called and had us puller for the day because her cheek was swollen when it wasn't when she left for school. The nurse went through her checklist, but if it was an infection she wanted to make sure treatment got started the right way. We made it to the doctor's office walk-in clinic time so we didn't have to make an appointment or try to make it to urgent care at worst the ER which probably would have taken forever. The doctor looked her over and we were lucky it was her pedi doing the walk-in times. She took some blood to rule out measles but said if her face swelling went down in the next 24 hours that its probably not the case and there were stones in her saliva glans. Well, don't know that would happen. I've heard of Kidney stones and Gallstones as well the ones you get at the back of your throat but not saliva stones. The treatment for its just eating or sucking on sour stuff, drinking water, hot compresses, and light massaging of the area. That's it. My kid got a doctor's order to eat candy all day yesterday. Yes her swelling went down. It's still a little bit bigger than her other cheek cuts much better.
