Day 64 – Provision Exodus 16:1 They journeyed from Elim, and the congregation of the children of Israel came to the Wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after they departed from the land of Egypt. 2 Then the whole congregation of the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness. 3 The children of Israel said to them, “Oh, that we had died by the hand of JEHOVAH in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat and when we ate bread to the full! For you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.” 4 Then JEHOVAH said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you. The people will go out and gather a certain quota every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in My law or not. 5 It will be on the sixth day that they will prepare what they bring in, and it will be twice as much as they gather daily.” 6 Then Moses and Aaron said to the children of Israel, “At evening you will know that JEHOVAH has brought you out of the land of Egypt. 7 In the morning you will see the glory of JEHOVAH; for He hears your complaints against JEHOVAH. But what are we, that you complain against us?” 8 Also Moses said, “This will be seen when JEHOVAH gives you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to the full; for JEHOVAH hears your complaints which you make against Him. What are we? Your complaints are not against us but against JEHOVAH.” 9 Then Moses spoke to Aaron, “Say to the congregation of the children of Israel, ‘Come near before JEHOVAH, for He has heard your complaints.’” 10 Now it happened, as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of JEHOVAH appeared in the cloud. 11 JEHOVAH spoke to Moses, saying, 12 “I have heard the complaints of the children of Israel. Speak to them, saying, ‘At twilight you will eat meat, and in the morning, you will be filled with bread. You will know that I am JEHOVAH your Elohiym.’” 13 So it was that quails came up at evening and covered the camp, and in the morning the dew lay all around the camp. 14 When the layer of dew lifted, there, on the surface of the wilderness, was a small round substance, as fine as frost on the ground. 15 When the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. Moses said to them, “This is the bread which JEHOVAH has given you to eat. 16 This is the thing which the LORD has commanded: ‘Let every man gather it according to each one’s need, one omer for each person, according to the number of persons; let every man take for those who are in his tent.’” 17 Then the children of Israel did so and gathered, some more, some less. 18 When they measured it by omers, he who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack. Every man gathered according to each one’s need. 19 Moses said, “Let no one leave any of it till morning.” 20 Notwithstanding, they did not heed Moses. But some of them left part of it until morning, and it bred worms and stank. Moses was angry with them. 21 So they gathered it every morning, every man according to his need. When the sun became hot, it melted. 22 So it was, on the sixth day, they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one. The rulers of the congregation came and told Moses. 23 Then he said to them, “This is what JEHOVAH said, ‘Tomorrow is a Sabbath rest, a holy Sabbath to JEHOVAH. Bake what you will bake today, and boil what you will boil; and lay up for yourselves all that remains, to be kept until morning.’” 24 So they laid it up till morning, as Moses commanded; and it did not stink, nor were there any worms in it. 25 Then Moses said, “Eat it today, for today is a Sabbath to JEHOVAH; today you will not find it in the field. 26 Six days you will gather it, but on the seventh day, which is the Sabbath, there will be none.” 27 Now it happened that some of the people went out on the seventh day to gather, but they found none. 28 JEHOVAH said to Moses, “How long do you refuse to keep My commandments and My laws? 29 See! For JEHOVAH has given you the Sabbath, therefore, He gives you on the sixth day bread for two days. Let every man remain in his place; let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.” 30 So the people rested on the seventh day. 31 The house of Israel called its name Manna. It was like white coriander seed, and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey. 32 Then Moses said, “This is the thing which JEHOVAH has commanded: ‘Fill an omer with it, to be kept for your generations, that they may see the bread with which I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.’” 33 Moses said to Aaron, “Take a pot and put an omer of manna in it, and lay it up before JEHOVAH, to be kept for your generations.” 34 As JEHOVAH commanded Moses Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept. 35 The children of Israel ate manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land; they ate manna until they came to the border of the land of Canaan. 36 Now an omer is one-tenth of an ephah. God’s names: JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal Elohiym – Mighty God God’s character: Provider Weights and Measures Omer – 2 quarts = 8 pints Ephah – 8 gallons – 1/10 = 12 cups = 8 pints = 2 quarts When you cook, do you make exact measurements, or do you go over or under the amount specified in the recipe? When someone tells you to get a specific number of materials, do you get the exact number required, or do you get approximately the amount asked for, a little more or less? We’ve all done it. We eye what looks like the amount required, and hope the recipe turns out, or you have enough materials to complete the job. Enough mistakes and we start measuring the exact amount required. JEHOVAH told Moses how much manna the people were to gather each day per person. They were not to gather more. If they did, the manna would become wormy and stink. The only day they could gather more was on the sixth day, because He would not give them manna on the seventh day, or Sabbath. JEHOVAH tested their obedience. It didn’t take long before Israel did exactly as JEHOVAH required of them. When they gathered an omer per person, they didn’t have too much or too little. JEHOVAH provided what they needed. How many Christians test what their leaders tell them to do? You know them. They go out and get the supplies, but they decide how much they need. It’s never enough or it’s way too much. People know who they can trust when it comes to doing Elohiym’s work. They’re the ones who get the amount needed. It’s not over or under and the job gets done perfectly. When you do what JEHOVAH requires of you, you will always have enough. JEHOVAH will provide you with everything you need. Philippians 4:19 My God will supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. You don’t need to worry about whether you will have enough. You will always have enough. Do you trust JEHOVAH to provide everything you need every day? Many Christians don’t. You see it in how they live. They worry about everything. Even when they have enough, they worry that it won’t be enough. They want more to be on the safe side. What did Solomon say? Proverbs 30:7 Two things I request of You (Deprive me not before I die): 8 Remove falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches—Feed me with the food allotted to me; 9 lest I be full and deny You, and say, “Who is JEHOVAH?” Or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my Elohiym. Elohiym will give you everything you need. You can trust Him. Let’s pray: Father, thank you that I can trust You to provide everything I need for each day. Let me give thanks to You for Your daily provision. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 22 March 2024 by Valerie Routhieaux The image belongs to me.

Amen. I always take measurements when I cook. I make sure the ingredients are enough. The Israelites were blessed to eat a heavenly food, manna. I trust Jehovah to provide for me. I also hope I do not waiver in my faith in him. At the same time I work because I know the job is part of God's provision.

It's good you measure everything when you cook. Yes, God blessed them with everything they needed. I'm glad you're blessed with JEHOVAH'S provision. Have a blessed day.

My husband is a food hoarder. I think it stems from his parents going through the Depression. Have a blessed weekend.
