Day 67 – Preparation Exodus 19:1 In the third month after the children of Israel left the land of Egypt, on the same day, they came to the Wilderness of Sinai. 2 For they had departed from Rephidim, had come to the Wilderness of Sinai, and camped in the wilderness. Israel camped there before the mountain. 3 Moses went up to Elohiym, and JEHOVAH called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you will say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel: 4 ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself. 5 'Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you will be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. 6 And you will be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you will speak to the children of Israel.” 7 Moses came and called for the elders of the people and laid before them all these words which JEHOVAH commanded him. 8 Then the people answered and said, “All that JEHOVAH has spoken we will do.” Moses brought back the words of the people to JEHOVAH. 9 JEHOVAH said to Moses, “Behold, I come to you in the thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you and believe you forever.” Moses told the words of the people to JEHOVAH. 10 Then JEHOVAH said to Moses, “Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow and let them wash their clothes. 11 Let them be ready for the third day. For on the third day JEHOVAH will come down upon Mount Sinai in the sight of the people. 12 You will set bounds for the people all around, saying, ‘Take heed to yourselves that you do not go up to the mountain or touch its base. Whoever touches the mountain will surely be put to death. 13 Not a hand will touch him, but he will surely be stoned or shot with an arrow; whether man or beast, he will not live.’ When the trumpet sounds long, they will come near the mountain.” 14 Moses went down from the mountain to the people and sanctified the people, and they washed their clothes. 15 He said to the people, “Be ready for the third day; do not come near your wives.” 16 Then it came to pass on the third day, in the morning, that there was thunder and lightning, and a thick cloud on the mountain; and the sound of the trumpet was very loud, so that all the people in the camp trembled. 17 Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with Elohiym, and they stood at the foot of the mountain. 18 Now Mount Sinai was completely in smoke, because JEHOVAH descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly. 19 When the blast of the trumpet sounded long and became louder and louder, Moses spoke, and Elohiym answered him by voice. 20 Then JEHOVAH came down upon Mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain. JEHOVAH called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up. 21 JEHOVAH said to Moses, “Go down and warn the people, lest they break through to gaze at JEHOVAH, and many of them perish. 22 Also, let the priests who come near JEHOVAH consecrate themselves, lest JEHOVAH break out against them.” 23 But Moses said to JEHOVAH, “The people cannot come up to Mount Sinai; for You warned us, saying, ‘Set bounds around the mountain and consecrate it.’” 24 Then JEHOVAH said to him, “Away! Get down and then come up, you and Aaron with you. Do not let the priests and the people break through to come up to JEHOVAH, lest He break out against them.” 25 Moses went down to the people and spoke to them. God’s name: Elohiym – Mighty God JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal Yeshuwa – Jesus God’s character: Protector Life is filled with preparation. You need to prepare for everything in life. Children prepare for school and work. You prepare for marriage and children, retirement, the empty nest, and death. JEHOVAH reminded Moses how He protected them when He brought them out of Egypt and told Moses the children of Israel needed to prepare to meet with Him on Mt. Sinai. He told them they needed to wash their clothes, set boundaries around the base of the mountain, and stay away from their wives. If they didn’t, JEHOVAH promised them death. JEHOVAH told him what would happen. He would come down in a thick cloud with the sound of a trumpet. Then He gave Moses permission for himself and Aaron to come up the mountain to meet with Him on the third day. For Elohiym, the third day is significant. He told Abraham to journey three days to Mount Moriah to sacrifice his son to Him. Here He told Moses to prepare three days before they were to meet with Him. You also know Yeshuwa rose from the dead three days after His death on Calvary. When He returns, you will hear a trumpet and know He is coming for you to take you to Himself. How have you prepared for Yeshuwa’s second coming? Do you spend time with Him in His Word, in Bible study, in prayer, with other believers in worship and praise? Have you told others about Yeshuwa and what He came to do for them? Do you prepare your life to meet Him face to face? Or like many people, you believe you have time to get ready. You do not know the day or hour of Yeshuwa’s return. You need to always be ready. Yeshuwa told the people that if they knew when the thief would break in, they would be prepared. You need to be prepared now. When He returns, it will be too late. JEHOVAH told Moses He would meet with them in three days. The children of Israel knew they needed to prepare right then to meet with Elohiym; they couldn’t wait. Yeshuwa gave you signs about what to look for when His return is imminent. Do you know the signs of His coming? Moses told the people what would take place, so the people knew what to expect, and yet when He appeared in the thick cloud and smoke, they trembled with fear. One day, Yeshuwa will return, and every eye will see Him, and they will know Him. Are you ready? How are your preparations coming along? Let’s pray: Father, help me to always be ready for Your Son’s return as I spend time with You in Your Word, in Bible study, and prayer. Let me praise You with other believers in praise and worship as I wait for the trumpet sound of Your Son’s arrival. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
