Day 71 – Instructions
Exodus 23:1 “You will not circulate a false report. Do not put your hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.
2 “You will not follow a crowd to do evil; nor will you testify in a dispute to turn aside after many to pervert justice.
3 “You will not show partiality to a poor man in his dispute.
4 “If you meet your enemy’s ox or his donkey going astray, you will bring it back to him again. 5 If you see the donkey of one who hates you lying under its burden, and you would refrain from helping it, you will help him with it.
6 “You will not pervert the judgment of your poor in his dispute. 7 Keep yourself far from a false matter; do not kill the innocent and righteous. For I will not justify the wicked. 8 You will take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the discerning and perverts the words of the righteous.
9 “Also you will not oppress a stranger, for you know the heart of a stranger, because you were strangers in the land of Egypt.
10 “Six years you will sow your land and gather in its produce, 11 but the seventh year you will let it rest and lie fallow, that the poor of your people may eat; and what they leave, the beasts of the field may eat. In like manner you will do with your vineyard and your olive grove.
12 “Six days you will do your work, and on the seventh day you will rest, so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your female servant and the stranger may be refreshed.
13 “In all I have said to you, be circumspect and make no mention of the name of other elohiym, nor let it be heard from your mouth.
14 “Three times you will keep a feast to Me in the year. 15 You will keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread (you will eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month of Abib, for in it you came out of Egypt; none will appear before Me empty); 16 and the Feast of Harvest, the first-fruits of your labors which you have sown in the field; and the Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you have gathered in the fruit of your labors from the field. 17 Three times in the year all your males will appear before the Lord GOD (adown, aw-done) JEHOVAH.
18 “You will not offer the blood of My sacrifice with leavened bread; nor will the fat of My sacrifice remain until morning.
19 “The first of the first fruits of your land you will bring into the house of the JEHOVAH your Elohiym. You will not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.
20 “Behold, I send a Malak before you to keep you in the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared. 21 Beware of Him and obey His voice; do not provoke Him, for He will not pardon your transgressions; for My name is in Him. 22 If you indeed obey His voice and do all that I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries. 23 For My Malak will go before you and bring you in unto the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; and I will cut them off. 24 You will not bow down to their elohiym, nor serve them, nor do according to their works; but you will overthrow them and break down their sacred pillars. 25 So you will serve JEHOVAH your Elohiym, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you. 26 No one will suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.
27 “I will send My fear before you, I will cause confusion among all the people to whom you come and will make all your enemies turn their backs to you. 28 I will send hornets before you, which will drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite from before you. 29 I will not drive them out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate, and the beast of the field become too numerous for you. 30 Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased, and you inherit the land.
31 “I will set your bounds from the Red Sea to the sea, Philistia, and from the desert to the Great River. For I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you will drive them out before you. 32 You will make no covenant with them, nor with their elohiym. 33 They will not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against Me. For if you serve their elohiym, it will be a snare to you.”
God’s name:
Malak – Angel

Elohiym – Mighty God
God’s character:
Instructor
Do you wonder why people say things repeatedly? They go over the same instructions several times. You’re ready to tell them you understand when they repeat themselves for the third and fourth times. They want you to hear what they tell you. They see you nod your head and know you want to get on with your assignment, but they persist in going over the same instructions again. They also know from past experiences that you will look at your assignment and wonder how to begin. You would know if you listened.
Elohiym repeated Himself often to His people. He wanted them to hear Him. He knew they wouldn’t get it the first time or even the second time, so He repeated the instructions. JEHOVAH’S goal was for His people to conquer the Promised Land. To do that, they would need to hear what He said to them and listen to His instructions.
How often do you sit in a church service and try to listen to what the pastor is saying. Your mind wanders when the sermon sounds familiar. It goes to the other activities of your day when the service finishes. And then you hear something you didn’t expect, and you wonder what you missed.
Elohiym told Israel they would defeat their enemies, but not in a year or even a few years because the land would be overrun with wild beasts if they attempted to conquer the land quickly. He told them not to become friendly with the people of the land else they would tempt them to turn away from JEHOVAH to serve their elohiym. He repeated the commandments He gave them with an explanation on how they were to treat one another. He also told them they needed to appear before Him three times a year with their first fruits.
JEHOVAH would repeat these instructions several times throughout the course of their journey in the wilderness.
Elohiym will also repeat His instructions to you when He sends you to do His work.
He told Israel they would not be alone in the journey to the Promised Land, but He would send His Angel before them. His Angel who had His name and would be with them to drive out their enemies. What name? His name, JEHOVAH.
When you accepted Jesus as your Savior and Lord, you received His name on your life. It was then He promised to go before you to destroy your enemies.
Did you get it? How often has Elohiym given you instructions and told you He would be with you? You had nothing to fear from your enemy. Jesus conquered your enemy on the cross. Yet, Satan tempts you and persuades you to sin. He tells you that you really aren’t a child of Elohiym. He causes you to doubt your salvation, and Elohiym needs to repeat His instructions and promises again until you hear what He says to you. He will repeat the instructions until you get it.
Let’s pray: Father, I know I don’t hear Your instructions the first time You give them to me. Open my ears Lord, so I can hear what You say, and follow Your instructions for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

At church we're reading the chronological Bible. Actually, I should say as a church body we're reading it in our homes. Then each Sunday or pastor or another leader teaches on one aspect from the section read that week.
I've read the whole Bible before but was years ago. I've never read it chronologically before this. We just finished Deuteronomy and we're now into Joshua.
I've of the recent teaching was something new to me.
