Different kind of day.

It's race day, so I took my weekly bath. Max (formally HBO Max) has audio discriptions of shows and movies. I'm finding it fun to re-watch series I've seen a thousand times, with the audio discriptions on. I never realized how much I missed out all the details I've missed. All. the conversations I couldn't understand. It totally rocks. That's what I did while I was in the tub today.

Does the audio description match what you know is happening?

I would have to get George or someone tell me. I can only assume, because I can't see details. From what spanish I know, the captions that were read in ENglish were spot-on, so I can assume the rest is the same.

@kaylachan That's good. Sometimes I have seen subtitles that were so wrong it would be laughable, if people were not relying on them. Also sometimes I know that translations do not say the same thing as the original, I'm sure this must happen a lot more only I don't realise it!

By audio description so your mean closed captioning? That's where the words are below the screen. One thing I've found is that the words written doing always match the ones said. I've been using that feature when I watch BBC shows. What do you mean by race day?

No. Audio discription. A narator discribes what's going on-screen when characters aren't talking. If there's text that's closed captioned, the narator reads the captions. The feature isn't new. Companies where making movies on VHS back in the day in this format. I even saw a live action adaptation (not Disney) of The Jungle Book done in this format, too. Race day. The nascar cup series is airing on t.v. and George's engrossed in the race.

That audio description must be a boon to you and others. Someone here in my condo complex has been using it for years and loves it, too.

I have to put George's shower chair back in the tub. The bathroom is too damn small. But for our needs it does good enough I guess.

I don't need the audio description, but I find it handy when I have the TV on to fall asleep. One station always has it. I haven't figured out how to turn it on , on the other stations.

I watch shows with my bestie, and we always turn on the captions, even though most of the shows are in English. It just makes it so much easier!

I always keep the captions on. There's too much video out there with garbled audio or the actors don't pronounce clearly. Have a good week.
