Cataract surgery sometime this summer

I needed to get a routine eye exam so I can renew my driver's license, but when I went to the optomitrist who has the right machine, he said that there is too big of a gap in vision between my eyes that I can't see in 3D so he won't sign that I can drive. The next step was to go to a opthlomogist and I was diagnosed as needing cataract surgery on my left eye. Then we will see if it will be enough so I can drive. I am very nervous about this and when people say to me that it is an easy surgery, I still feel nervous. This is the first time since I was 16 that I can't drive because of my vision. This is a very big deal for me.

It's okay to feel nervous. Just don't let that stop you from getting the surgy if you need it.

I don't have the driver's licence anymore and have to use the bus or taxis. It was such a big part of my life, that I could just get in the car and go somewhere. Now I have to plan more carefully.

@lifecoachjerusalem I know what you mean. George hasn't been able to drive since his stroke. So, I've had to use ride shares to get us around. I wish I could drive, sometimes. But, I only have one working eye. I'm not sure I'd be allowed to drive with it.

@kaylachan Yes, I have the right eye that has a proper driving certification, but the left eye can't be corrected so that is the reason that I cannot drive.

I can relate to you feeling nervous about getting eye surgery due to cataracts myself due to my age of being 62.

I am also 62, so I feel that this is early for me for this type of surgery.
