Define Crush

When I was about ten years old, I heard a lot of my classmates talk about crushes.
I didn't understand what they were talking about so I just ignored them, but at the back of my head I asked, "Why are they so obsessed talking about plane crashes these days?"
By the time I was twelve years old, I found out that a crush refers to a person whom you admire and have affection for.
This kind of innocent child mind is what I really miss, and is something that I always laugh about.
Were you aware what a crush really was back then?

We adopted the English word "crush" fairly recently, so when I was a kid the slang for "romantic interest" was "cotta" which roughly means "burn".
Yes, here you'd get burned if you were infatuated, not crushed. 
However, when I was in primary school, we'd talk more about fiancées and marrying those we liked, speaking of innocence.

First time I ever heard of the word "cotta." It definitely has a ring to it. Your cheeks will burn whenever you see your cotta. 
I'm learning new words here in myLot.
Anyway, I really do miss the innocence that we had as a child. Everything was so new to us. I also remember my friends and I play wedding and house when we were still little. Everything seem so fun and easy to do.
