I just wanted to share why I avoid reading posts that are always negative or filled with complaints on various sites. It's not that I don't care about what others are going through, but constantly reading about misery and problems doesn't spark joy for me. It feels toxic and brings down the mood. Just as I sometimes avoid consuming negative news, I choose to steer clear of consistently negative posts online. This is just my general approach to online interactions. I want to lessen if not totally not interact with those kinds of content online. Its just my way of making a better experience for myself. Mylot is one of the sites that I go to almost everyday. I come here to be inspired, connect with others, and find positivity and for the most part, Mylot doesn't fail. I love reading uplifting stories, posts that are humorous it makes me smile and those that inspire or are simply thought provoking. This way, I do what is in my power to help keep my mental space healthier and more positive. We all have challenges, but I prefer to focus on the good and the hopeful. What are your thoughts about it? How do you handle negativity online?

I tend to avoid overly negative posts when I am not in the right headspace, myself. Like you said, constant negativity can bring you down and becomes toxic. However, on the other side of the coin, it's impossible to avoid it entirely. And, I'm a realist. If I'm in the right headspace, then a negative post isn't going to bother me. In fact, I may read it and offer advice. While negativity can be depressing, it's important for us to express ourselves, good or bad. You never know, you might help save a life and never know it.

Completely get where you're coming from. It's all about protecting our mental space. Some folks do tend to lean heavily on the negative side. This is about focusing on the positive 'whenever' we can.

@pitsipeahie Sometimes it can't be helped. People do suffer things like depression and other mental health struggles.

I am always researching and looking for things to write about online, When I see things that are negative or not pleasant I just pass them by and don't stop to read them, I hope you have a good start to the new week,

Yes, that is why I emphasized 'constantly'. Its everywhere and its up to you how you manage it and not let it get into you. At least online, I can choose to read something or not.
