A Storm

Last night we had a storm followed by a heavy rain here.
The storm was so powerful that a huge tree near my house was uprooted and as many as three electric poles fell down on the ground.
Immediately the power supply was disrupted and all my area was sunk in pitch darkness.As it was raining heavily;the electric department personnel could not arrive the site to fix the damage.
I could neither sleep due to heat;nor read a book as I do every night.
Today morning the damage was fixed and now we all are feeling cool.

@grenery8 No;.Actually it was raining veery heavily and they could not arrive.The downpour continued the whole night.Fifteen minutes after it stopped early in the morning;they reached the spot and got it fixed it.

Oh that's terrible.
It would have been humid heat.
Reminds me of the late 1990s when long duration power cuts were common in Delhi.
There used to be protest marches and dharnas.
By the way, BJP sprang surprise in Naveen Patnaik's bastion.
He has been a good CM but may be voters had their misgivings or the candidates were not so good.

Still 24 years as CM is no mean job.
Not good that BJP + could not muster more seats.

Actually Naveen lost due to anti incumbency.He had been the CM continuously for last 25 years.He is now too old and almost completely dependent on a IAS officer;Pandian;who is from Tamilnadu.Also;there is a Jagannath temple issue.The keys of the "Ratna Bhandar" of the temple are lost and people are enraged.Modi and Naveen have been friends.Naveen was willing to be the CM for the sixth time.Modi had no objection.Both parties decided to have an alliance to contest the elections.But the local BJP unit did not agree.They knew the BJD was not in a position to win and the BJP can form the government.That's why the alliance could not be materialized.This was the last innings of Naveen in the state politics.There is none in the BJD who can inherit his legacy.
