I have fond memories of being a child in elementary school, when in the afternoon, kids in the class would be working on homework or something, and the teacher would read to us--maybe a chapter of a book a day, and I would always look forward to that time.
One of the many books that was read--I want to say I was in the second or third grade (?) was The Twenty-One Balloons by William Pène du Bois.
Of course in my memory, I only recall little pieces of the story. I was happy to see this book on ThriftBooks.
I've had it a while, and now that I'm done with that ridiculous book about the haunted mall, I can read this book for myself. I remember my seven- or eight-year-old self enjoyed it when it was read to me--I'm curious what I think of it as an adult, reading it for myself.
I'm sure I will enjoy this book more than the last one...
