Even if the US cricket team has many players of Indian and Asian origin, a former New Zealand player, two players with South African background; and just one homegrown talent (Steven Taylor), and not a big experience overall in Cricket, and in a nation where many might not even know about this game; comes a big achievement.
US team has qualified for the round two after wins against Canada(ok) and surprise of surprise beating a former T 20 world cup champion Pakistan and aided by a washed out match vs Ireland.
The going is not going to be easy as a tougher rival might face them in the round two.
Yet it is a big morale booster for them and expect more interest in the game of Cricket in US in the coming times.

Same feelings here mate. I don't think anyone might have expected this to happen. But this loss, and The ensuing developments made Pakistan crash out of this World Cup.

I cannot more than agree on what you say. This is definitely a big stage - a World Cup, and the US team has advanced the next round in itself is a victory for them. I am not sure if they are playing in their inagural tournament but the success is definitely eye-catching. And yes I totally agree the way they defeated Pakistan has also brought back memories where Kenya had defeated the West Indies in a similar World Cup match. But the World Cup was 50 over affair that time. Anyway, this is good news for the US team. And I hope a lot of people will back these underdogs in the remaining of the tournament.

Nepal also came close to winning against South Africa.
T 20 gives a better chance for teams ranked far apart to close their ranks and for upset to happen.
One day, Scotland gave hard time to Aussies but Marcus Stoinis and Travis Head rescued them.
I do remember Kenya beating the eventual semi finalists West Indies in the 1996 World Cup.
That was a big news at that time !

Yes I read about that. Interesting even though I don't follow Cricket.
