Yet another unpredictable election saw South Africa increasingly turn their back on the corrupt ANC ruling party, top dogs since Mandela's release. Cyril Rhamaposa held on to the top job but only just, coalition seeing them join up with the mostly white Democratic Alliance, 22%.. ANC vote has tumbled from the higher 80 percent to 40% this month. So bad are the ANC at this rate of depreciation the white could be the majority party by the mid 2030s although Civil War far more likely then. South Africa is 84% black.
So bad is the corruption in South Africa as the ANC effectively steal from their own country and black people to get even with the white apartheid corruption, some 10 million blacks voted for the center right white party.

How long the coalition will hold is the question. Mandela and De Klerk's relationship was contentious as they tried to form a unity gov't. Clearly no love lost between them. The DA appears to be the winner at this moment in the political horse trading. But don't dismiss Zuma and his new party yet. Corruption is rampant in many parts of Africa. Their colonial masters being replace by multi-national corporations which still need the natural resources of the continent.

There is a sense of counter -productive payback here as the black ANC pilfer the coffers ...their own people.. Is this why black Africa never works?

@thedevilinme ~ If history is to be the judge, the oppressed themselves tend to become the oppressors. The foreign master now replaced by a local one.
Mandela who I believe wanted true liberation for his people said, both the oppressed and the oppressor were not really free. The former are victims of injustice while the oppressor is locked behind bars of hatred and prejudice. I might add also fear. Both have lost their humanity and until they are willing to trust which would make them vulnerable, the cycle continues. Unfortunately, this is the world we live in.
