Second week in California: more downtime now

Things have finally slowed down here. One of my sisters-in-law is in San Francisco with her kids for a quick trip and two nephews are away - one is back in Oregon, and the other one is performing in LA. The household has become quieter and so we're able to have more downtime now. I was happy to have a day when I could just stay home and relax and help my mother-in-law with cooking, gardening and chores.
We go out from time to time to get stuff and cooking ingredients. I'm able to make breakfast on some days and help clear the garden before the hired gardeners come to gather the trimmings. I've taken the job of pruning Mom's rose bushes and watering the succulents that have been neglected when she was in the hospital.
At around 7 p.m. we go out to walk the dogs or just walk by ourselves. It's a beautiful neighborhood. I would usually gape at the beautiful houses and lawns here. Awhile back, my eldest SIL drove us to Evergreen and Hillstone and Silver Creek where the nicest and more expensive houses are. They're up on a hill and get a good view of the mountains and the city.
We also passed by the St. Francis of Assisi church. It was closed so we didn't get to see the inside. I'm hoping to attend Mass there one Sunday.
That's all for now. I'm thankful for this quiet afternoon. I'm getting all the rest I can get before we drive to Los Angeles on Friday.
I hope you're doing well and getting some rest as needed.

@LindaOHio Thanks, Linda. Just had a few days of jetlag. Back on track now and catching up on laundry. LOL

We did get to attend Mass there on our last weekend in San Jose. I also got to personally meet the priest who is also from my mother's hometown here in the Philippines. It was his first week as parish priest and he's doing really well.

It was a long and exhausting vacation, but each day counted so it was all worth it. We're back home now and preparing for the start of school which will be in about two weeks. Lots of unpacking to do too. Whew!
