Day 158 – Obedience
Numbers 28:1 Now JEHOVAH spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Command the children of Israel, and say to them, ‘My offering, My food for My offerings made by fire as a sweet aroma to Me, you will be careful to offer to Me at their appointed time.’ 3 You will say to them, ‘This is the offering made by fire which you will offer to JEHOVAH: two male lambs in their first year without blemish, day by day, as a regular burnt offering. 4 One lamb you will offer in the morning, the other lamb you will offer in the evening, 5 and one-tenth of an ephah of fine flour as a grain offering mixed with one-fourth of a hin of pressed oil. 6 It is a regular burnt offering which was ordained at Mount Sinai for a sweet aroma, an offering made by fire to JEHOVAH. 7 Its drink offering will be one-fourth of a hin for each lamb; in a holy place you will pour out the drink to JEHOVAH as an offering. 8 The other lamb you will offer in the evening; as the morning grain offering and its drink offering, you will offer it as an offering made by fire, a sweet aroma to JEHOVAH. 9 On the Sabbath day two lambs in their first year, without blemish, and two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour as a grain offering, mixed with oil, with its drink offering— 10 this is the burnt offering for every Sabbath, besides the regular burnt offering with its drink offering.
11 ‘At the beginnings of your months you will present a burnt offering to JEHOVAH: two young bulls, one ram, and seven lambs in their first year, without blemish; 12 three-tenths of an ephah of fine flour as a grain offering, mixed with oil, for each bull; two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour as a grain offering, mixed with oil, for the one ram; 13 and one-tenth of an ephah of fine flour, mixed with oil, as a grain offering for each lamb, as a burnt offering of sweet aroma, an offering made by fire to JEHOVAH. 14 Their drink offering will be half a hin of wine for a bull, one-third of a hin for a ram, and one-fourth of a hin for a lamb; this is the burnt offering for each month throughout the months of the year. 15 Also, you will offer one kid of the goats as a sin offering to JEHOVAH, besides the regular burnt offering and its drink offering.
16 ‘On the fourteenth day of the first month is the Passover of JEHOVAH. 17 On the fifteenth day of this month is the feast; unleavened bread will be eaten for seven days. 18 On the first day you will have a holy convocation. You will do no customary work. 19 You will present an offering made by fire as a burnt offering to JEHOVAH: two young bulls, one ram, and seven lambs in their first year. Be sure they are without blemish. 20 Their grain offering will be of fine flour mixed with oil: three-tenths of an ephah you will offer for a bull, and two-tenths for a ram; 21 you will offer one-tenth of an ephah for each of the seven lambs; 22 also one goat as a sin offering, to make atonement for you. 23 You will offer these besides the burnt offering of the morning, which is for a regular burnt offering. 24 In this manner you will offer the food of the offering made by fire daily for seven days, as a sweet aroma to JEHOVAH; it will be offered besides the regular burnt offering and its drink offering. 25 On the seventh day you will have a holy convocation. You will do no customary work.
26 ‘Also, on the day of the first fruits, when you bring a new grain offering to JEHOVAH at your Feast of Weeks, you will have a holy convocation. You will do no customary work. 27 You will present a burnt offering as a sweet aroma to JEHOVAH: two young bulls, one ram, and seven lambs in their first year, 28 with their grain offering of fine flour mixed with oil: three-tenths of an ephah for each bull, two-tenths for the one ram, 29 and one-tenth for each of the seven lambs; 30 also one kid of the goats, to make atonement for you. 31 Be sure they are without blemish. You will present them with their drink offerings, besides the regular burnt offering with its grain offering.
God’s names:
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
Yeshuwa – Jesus
God’s character:
Holy
When someone tells you that you will do something, how do you respond? Most people want to rebel when they’re told they must do something in a certain way at a certain time with no deviation.
JEHOVAH told the children of Israel how they were to offer the burnt offerings to Him. They were to present them in a certain way, at a certain time, every day. They were not to deviate from the manner He told them to present His offerings.
When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you committed your life to doing what He told you. Many Christians take His commands as suggestions on how they are to live their lives, how to worship, how to give their offerings. They take JEHOVAH’S Word and revise and refine it to fit their lifestyle. They don’t realize the promise He gives when they obey Him without deviating from what He told them.
2 Chronicles 7:14 “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (NKJV)
JEHOVAH told Solomon what He would do when they obeyed Him. He would hear them, heal them, and forgive them.
When the children of Israel obeyed JEHOVAH, He provided everything they needed in the wilderness. Everything. He provided food, water, protection from their enemies, and kept their clothes and shoes from wearing out for forty years.
When you follow what JEHOVAH tells you, you will see the same promises He gave His people fulfilled in your life.
He told the children of Israel to offer sacrifices twice a day, and the way they were to offer them. JEHOVAH told them how they were to worship Him on their feast days. Everything they did brought honor to Him and in return, He took care of all their needs.
He will do the same for you when you obey Him without deviating from what He tells you.
Let’s pray: Father, help me obey You without deviating from what You tell me. Let me see Your Word as Your commands, leading to promises from You for obedience to You, and not suggestions which do nothing for me because of my disobedience to You. Help me see the ‘wills’ of Your Word as Your promises to me when I obey You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
