Restocking the pantry

I think I'm almost or fully recovered from jetlag by now. I still get sleepy late in the afternoon and would sometimes sleep like a log until a little before midnight. But that's happened maybe only twice or thrice. It's a good thing my girls know how to prep their own dinner when Mom's snoring away already. A few days back, we were finally able to go to a proper grocery and buy some meats and other essentials. I'm so happy to be restocking the pantry again. The husband was wondering why I'd bought so many canned sardines and tuna. I don't know. I missed eating fish so much. I didn't get to eat enough fish and seafood while we were vacationing in the U.S. (More on this later... ) I also got some luncheon meat, corned beef, Canadian bacon, dried fish &c. for our usual heavy breakfast meals. I missed my kitchen so much, and I missed cooking food the way I wanted to. I am grateful to have been fed well in the household where we stayed, but there's really nothing like the goodness of one's own cooking. You get to nourish yourself and your family in the way you're supposed to. Right now, I've got pork cubes simmering on the stove. My youngest daughter requested pork sinigang (pork in sour broth) for dinner. And she wanted lots and lots of vegetables in it. She even volunteered to go to the market with me and buy the ingredients. I got the pork from our last grocery run, so we got mostly just veggies (for the soup) and some eggs (for breakfast). Do you often keep your pantry stocked? What are your pantry essentials?

My husband is a food hoarder; and our pantry, fridge and freezer were always packed full. Have a good day.

That's awesome. It wouldn't hurt to always keep your pantry, fridge and freezer full. My husband is quite the opposite - he doesn't like it when I stock up. So I just usually get stuff good for a week or so. Would love to have a big freezer someday when we move to a bigger house. Our apartment is too small for a potential hoarder like me. LOL
