Day 183 – JEHOVAH
Deuteronomy 17:1 “You will not sacrifice to JEHOVAH your Elohiym a bull or sheep which has any blemish or defect, for it is an abomination to JEHOVAH your Elohiym.
2 “If there is found among you, within any of your gates which JEHOVAH your Elohiym gives you, a man or a woman who has been wicked in the sight of JEHOVAH your Elohiym, in transgressing His covenant, 3 who has gone and served other elohiym and worshiped them, either the sun or moon or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded, 4 and it is told you, and you hear of it, then you will inquire diligently. If it is indeed true and certain that such an abomination has been committed in Israel, 5 then you will bring out to your gates the man or woman who committed that wicked thing and will stone to death that man or woman with stones.
6 Whoever deserves death will be put to death on the testimony of two or three witnesses; he will not be put to death on the testimony of one witness. 7 The hands of the witnesses will be the first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of the people. You will put away the evil from among you.
8 “If a matter arises which is too hard for you to judge, between degrees of guilt for bloodshed, between one judgment or another, or between one punishment or another, matters of controversy within your gates, then you will arise and go up to the place which JEHOVAH your Elohiym chooses. 9 You will come to the priests, the Levites, and to the judge in those days, and inquire of them; they will pronounce upon you the sentence of judgment. 10 You will do according to the sentence which they pronounce upon you in that place which JEHOVAH chooses. You will be careful to do according to everything they order you. 11 According to the sentence of the law in which they instruct you, according to the judgment which they tell you, you will do; you will not turn aside to the right hand or to the left from the sentence which they pronounce upon you. 12 Now the man who acts presumptuously and will not heed the priest who stands to minister before JEHOVAH your Elohiym, or the judge, that man will die. You will put away the evil from Israel. 13 All the people will hear and fear, and no longer act presumptuously.
14 “When you come to the land which JEHOVAH your Elohiym gives you, and possess it and dwell in it, and say, ‘I will set a king over me like the nations around me,’ 15 you will set a king over you whom JEHOVAH your Elohiym chooses; one from among your brethren you will set as king over you; you may not set a foreigner over you, who is not your brother. 16 He will not multiply horses for himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt to multiply horses, for JEHOVAH said to you, ‘You will not return that way again.’ 17 Neither will he multiply wives for himself, lest his heart turn away; nor will he greatly multiply silver and gold for himself. 18 Also, it will be, when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, that he will write for himself a copy of this law in a book, from the one before the priests, the Levites. 19 It will be with him, and he will read it every day of his life, so that he may learn to fear JEHOVAH his Elohiym and be careful to observe the words of this law and these statutes, 20 so that his heart may not be lifted above his brethren, and that he may not turn aside from the commandment to the right hand or to the left, so that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he and his children in the midst of Israel.
God’s names:
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
Elohiym – Supreme God
Yeshuwa – Jesus
Iesous – Jesus
Christos – Anointed One, Messiah
Poimen – Shepherd
Episkopos – Bishop, Overseer
God’s character:
Judge
King
People don’t like being told what they can and cannot do. They want to make their own decisions, and they expect everyone to go along with their decisions. Today there are countless religions and governments who follow their own dictates.
Moses told the people what JEHOVAH would not tolerate in His people. He was their Elohiym, and they were not to bow down to any other gods. If they did, He told them the people were to kill them and get rid of the wickedness among them. He also told them when it came time for them to want a king to rule over them like the other nations, they were to put a king of His choosing over the people.
Many Christians feel the same way as the rest of the world. They accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, but they accept other religions and views. They pick and choose what they believe, adding to the religions of the world and corrupting JEHOVAH’S Word.
Yeshuwa told the people there was only one way and one door.
John 10:1 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 2 But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hears his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. 5 Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”
6 Iesous used this illustration, but they did not understand the things which He said to them. 7 Then Iesous said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 Everyone who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. 9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (NKJV)
When you set aside the other gods and religions in your life, and follow JEHOVAH’S Word, you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.
John 8:31 Then Iesous said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
When you follow JEHOVAH’S Word, you will also pray for His guidance when it comes to those who rule over you. He told you what to look for in the person who leads the country. One who fears Elohiym, walks in His ways, and turns neither to the right or left, but does everything with integrity and the love of Elohiym and Iesous Christos.
Who is your Elohiym? Do you walk in His ways? Do you read and study the Scriptures so you can learn everything you can about Him and what He requires of you?
Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, everyone, to his own way; and JEHOVAH has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
Psalm 119:176 I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek Your servant, for I do not forget Your commandments.
1 Peter 2:25 For you were like sheep going astray but have now returned to the Poimen and Episkopos of your souls.
When you follow JEHOVAH’S Word, you will never go astray. He will be your Elohiym, and you will be His child.
Let’s pray: Father, let me say as the psalmist said, I have gone astray, seek me for I do not forget Your Word. Teach me, guide me, and set Your face on me. You are my King. Bless me because I love You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
