Seeing as last week was the final week of art class at Wall Village Hall, today I started doing "at home art class" again.
Today I was doing some watercolour paintings for the London art course correspondence course. I did 2 paintings, but only finished one of them. (See above.)
I have 3 similar paintings to do for the London art course, all views looking out of a window. The first one, which is pictured above, is a room with a view out of the window and both the room and the view out of the window were provided for us. But there are 2 more paintings I've got to do, which are also views out of a window. The first one has a fella sitting on a window seat but the view out of the window is blank and you have to make up the view out of the window. I've just done a sea view with one little yacht in the distance. The other one is a view out of a window, but the view out of the window is provided, it's like an Italianesque landscape, and you have to draw what's inside the room. I've already added in some curtains round the windows, and I'm thinking of doing a table and a chair.
Anyway I painted the picture above first. I did the sky in the view outside first, including the sun, and let it dry, then i painted the table and the banister. Then I did the floorboards and the grey walls. When the sky was dry I painted in the green hills in the background of the houses. I did the foliage near to and some leaves on the vase on the table. Then I did the grey walls. When that was dry I added a red strip and I painted the picture frame red. When that was dry I did the shutters green, trying to get a different shade to the foliage! I added a little scene in the picture on the wall and I painted the mat in the foreground red. Then I painted the flowers in the vase on the table. I painted them with a light wash of red first, then let that dry and then I added darker reds to it. The last thing I did was a flower pattern round the edge of the mat.
I put that aside to dry and then had a break before I commenced on the second painting. I did the sky in first outside the window in that one. Then I did the outside edges of the walls grey! I painted the window seat on which the guy is seated with yellow ochre. When that was dry I painted beams in the roof and I painted the curtains red. Then I left it to dry and I will complete it next week along with the third of the paintings, hopefully.
So what have you lot been getting up to today?
I hope you are all well.
Have a great night.
