First week of school for my girls

It's Friday now and the first week of school is almost over for my girls. The first day when all grade levels were already in campus, I made sure to bring lunch for my daughters so they wouldn't have to join the long line at the cafeteria. I prepared chicken karaage with buttered cabbage and carrots on the side. I cooked brown rice to go with the dishes because it's more filling than white rice. I was so happy to see empty food containers when they got home. Oh, the simple joys of a mom.
They were too lazy to get up this morning, however, because they got tummy ache after eating spoilt yogurt sticks last night. They decided to report to class anyway as this is the day when regular lectures will start. I'm having egg congee delivered to them in time for lunch, so they'll have something light and nourishing. They both threw up very early in the morning. My eldest ate a granola bar on the way to school, but the youngest didn't want to eat anything at all.
3 p.m. is the usual pick-up time at school, unless their Daddy decides to have them stay in his office for a while. In the meantime, I'll be working for a bit on my laptop and do some cleaning and washing in between.
How's your day been?

@almostoveryou I do my laundry twice a week, with the bedding every other week and the occasional blanket or something in-between.

Oh, I am so sorry about the tummy aches. I hope they are fine now that they have attended school, despite the sick feeling they are having. I recall that when I had diarrhea during the school day, my parents did not encourage me to miss school. That is why, even when I am not feeling well at school, I must end it and force myself to stay until the end of the school day.

@almostoveryou I suppose that is true; there is a reason why my parents sent me to school. But on those days, I can relate to your children. When you are not feeling well, it is extremely difficult to concentrate on your studies. Even though I made it through those days. I suppose that if my parents allowed me to skip school, I might develop the habit of making excuses when I do not want to go.

Your parents trained you well. I also told my girls that if their condition is not debilitating, they should still make an effort to go to school. I want them to develop that kind of mindset that I hope they'd take until they enter the workforce.
They're doing better now and able to eat whatever they want to eat.

@rsa101 I guess our parents were more into tough love while we were growing up. I'm too careful to not be too strict with my girls, especially on matters where they can already decide for themselves.
