Day 207 – Penalty
Joshua 7:1 The children of Israel committed a trespass regarding the accursed things, for Achan the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed things; and the anger of JEHOVAH burned against the children of Israel.
2 Now Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth Aven, on the east side of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, “Go up and spy out the country.” The men went up and spied out Ai. 3 When they returned to Joshua, they said to him, “Do not let every person go, but let about two or three thousand men attack Ai. Do not weary the people there, for the people of Ai are few.”
4 So about three thousand men went there from the people, but they fled before the men of Ai. 5 The men of Ai struck down about thirty-six men, for they chased them from before the gate as far as Shebarim, and struck them down on the descent; therefore, the hearts of the people melted and became like water.
6 Then Joshua tore his clothes and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of JEHOVAH until evening, he and the elders of Israel; and they put dust on their heads. 7 Then Joshua said, “Alas, Adonay JEHOVIH, why have You brought this people over the Jordan at all—to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? Oh, that we had been content, and dwelt on the other side of the Jordan! 8 O Adonay, what will I say when Israel turns its back before its enemies? 9 For the Canaanites and the inhabitants of the land will hear it, and surround us, and cut off our name from the earth. Then what will You do for Your great name?”
10 So JEHOVAH said to Joshua, “Get up! Why do you lie thus on your face? 11 Israel sinned, and they also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. For they took some of the accursed things, and both stolen and deceived; and they also put it among their own stuff. 12 Therefore, the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they have become doomed to destruction. Neither will I be with you anymore, unless you destroy the accursed from among you. 13 Get up, sanctify the people, and say, ‘Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, because thus says JEHOVAH Elohiym of Israel: “There is an accursed thing in your midst, O Israel; you cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the accursed thing from among you.” 14 In the morning therefore you will be brought according to your tribes. It will happen that the tribe which JEHOVAH takes will come according to families; and the family which JEHOVAH takes will come by households; and the household which JEHOVAH takes will come man by man. 15 Then it will happen that he who is taken with the accursed thing will be burned with fire, he and everything he has, because he transgressed the covenant of JEHOVAH, and because he did a disgraceful thing in Israel.’”
16 Joshua rose early in the morning and brought Israel by their tribes, and the tribe of Judah was taken. 17 He brought the clan of Judah, and he took the family of the Zarhites; and he brought the family of the Zarhites man by man, and Zabdi was taken. 18 Then he brought his household man by man, and Achan the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken.
19 Now Joshua said to Achan, “My son, I beg you, give glory to JEHOVAH Elohiym of Israel, and make confession to Him, and tell me now what you have done; do not hide it from me.”
20 Achan answered Joshua and said, “Indeed I sinned against JEHOVAH Elohiym of Israel, and this is what I have done: 21 When I saw among the spoils a beautiful Babylonian garment, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. There they are, hidden in the earth in the middle of my tent, with the silver under it.”
22 Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent; and there it was, hidden in his tent, with the silver under it. 23 They took them from the midst of the tent, brought them to Joshua and to the children of Israel, and laid them out before JEHOVAH.
24 Then Joshua, and Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, the silver, the garment, the wedge of gold, his sons, his daughters, his oxen, his donkeys, his sheep, his tent, and everything he had, and brought them to the Valley of Achor. 25 Joshua said, “Why have you troubled us? JEHOVAH will trouble you this day.” Israel stoned him with stones; and they burned them with fire after they had stoned them with stones. 26 Then they raised over him a great heap of stones, still there to this day. Then JEHOVAH turned from the fierceness of His anger. Therefore, the name of that place has been called the Valley of Achor to this day.

Theos – Supreme Divinity
Theiotes – Divinity, Godhead
God’s character:
Judge
When someone commits a crime, you need to search for the guilty person. When found, the guilty person goes before the judge and a jury of their peers. When found guilty, the judge passes sentence on the person.
Israel committed a crime against JEHOVAH. When Joshua went before JEHOVAH, He told him what Israel did and told Joshua what he needed to do to bring the guilty person forward. When found, Israel needed to burn him with fire. Joshua did what Elohiym told him. When Elohiym chose Achan from among the tribe of Judah, they brought him forward, stoned him and his family, and set fire to him and his household. With the guilty person sentenced, JEHOVAH’S anger ceased from among Israel.
Before you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you were dead in trespasses and sin. Elohiym judged you guilty.
Ephesians 2:1 You He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
If not for Yeshuwa’s grace, Elohiym would sentence you to death in the same way He sentenced Achan. However, when you learned about Yeshuwa’s grace and mercy, you confessed your sin, and His blood covered you. JEHOVAH no longer saw your sin but accepted you as His child.
Those who deny and reject Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, have the sentence of death on them and will suffer the same sentence as Achan when JEHOVAH sentences them to Hell for their rejection of His Son.
Romans 1:18 For the wrath of Theos is revealed from heaven against every ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of Theos is manifest in them, for Theos showed it to them.
20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Theiotes, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew Theos, they did not glorify Him as Theos, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible Theos into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
24 Therefore, Theos also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of Theos for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
Theos doesn’t send people to Hell; their rejection of His Son sends them there. When you accept Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, and live in obedience to Him, He assures your salvation through the blood of His Son, Yeshuwa. Only then will He commute your penalty of eternal separation from Him and give you eternal life with Him in heaven.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for the blood of Your Son that covers me, so I can stand before You, not in my sin and shame, but cleansed from all unrighteousness. Help me to live in obedience to You, giving You praise for my salvation. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

There is always a payment for sin, God refuses to tolerate iniquity in the lives of his children. Achan sinned against God, hiding the spoil inside his tent. All of Israel suffered, because of the unrighteous deeds of one man. We serve a righteous God asks every person to repent and to turn away from our own sinful ways. Salvation is for all who will accept Jesus Christ as their savior and be born again, thus becoming a vessel of honor for God's use.

@kobesbuddy Yes, I understood. It's wonderful when you think about what Jesus did for us. He, the one man, took our sin, and changed us into a righteous person, who without His shed blood, stand unworthy before a righteous God. Praise God, He changed me into a blessing of honor for His use.
