Travelling on bike!

I had taken an off day yesterday. And today is my weekly off as well. So I got two holidays on the trot. That's why I had decided a plan with my friend who lives at least 4 hours drive from my place. I left early in the morning yesterday, I spent the entire day with him, and I returned home these morning. For me it was almost 260 kms of bike ride. I mostly prefer to travel on my own. It was a long journey. And at times a bit tiresome too. But meeting a friend and getting to spend the entire day with him, doesn't exhaust you anymore. Have you travelled like this, especially on your bike. How was your experience? Please do share.

I have not done like this. Yet in late 2022, I made a short trip to a place some 4-5 hours away. I enjoyed some time in Hills as well as met old fiends. I plan to do it again, but it needs to be planned carefully.

@abhi_bangal I have my mind set on places like Spiti Valley or at least Kinnaur (beyond Shimla area). Need to see how can I make it feasible. It needs money, time an foremost a lot of planning. One reason why I avoid planning with friends is that I do not like the rushed plans especially when it is about Hilly areas.

@abhi_bangal I live in Delhi NCR. No, I won't try on a bike !! Even in a car, with the help of a hilly area driver perhaps. But yes, my keenness for such a trip still remains.

I'm sure you will love it once you do I often make such trips. And it's satisfying to have a break from your routine. That's our main reason for having such trips. But it's good to hear that you enjoyed with your friends. Going to hills is definitely something I like. Maybe, we should plan a trip to some hills soon

@sharonelton, Actually, this discussion is parallel to the discussion and replies we exchanged regarding your Cardiff travel, or one more city name you said, mentioning it takes the same time to travel as it takes to reach Cardiff. So I was expecting our replies to go through on parallel lines, like how much time it to for me to travel what the distance was et cetera. But you replied by saying you can't ride a bike and that put a full stop to all the possible replies, that I thought this discussion would be.

@abhi_bangal No. I've got no sense of balance.

I'd love to travel on a bike. But not on a busy road. You must be so fit and strong after your bike ride! Awesome!

Yup. I automatically reach roads with less traffic when I'm out of the city limits. Until I leave the city, there's a bit of traffic. But as I reach the main highway, there's less traffic and riding is fun. Oh, it actually transpired to me now that I am for and strong really. Because I never paid attention to this. Though I don't drive 260 kms at a stretch, still it's quite a bit of driving even to cover half the distance. Thank you so much for your compliment of calling me fit and strong I'm amused and feeling proud

@abhi_bangal If a Highway is wide and well planned, driving can be real fun. I had some good drives en route Jim Corbett some six years back.

@abhi_bangal Of course, you should be proud of yourself for that long distance trek on a bike ride you made!

That's a long way to go on a bike. I'm glad you could spend time with your friend. Have a good weekend.

That is definitely a long way, yes. But when you go meet your dear friend or someone you love by heart, the travelling doesn't give you any pain, actually. And I've experienced that on a number of occasions. Because it's kind of a ritual to me to often visit him that far. And he too travels at times like this too. Have a good Sunday!

Definitely yes. We all need such weekends where we get a chance to spend the day with our loved ones. It's real fun and worth the memories. I'm sure you too have had such times in the past. Or at least you wished to have. Such breaks are quite important to us. They keep us refreshed and make us mentally and physically ready for the next week's challenges.
