We have two cell services in Jamaica. Careless and Worthless... Cable and Wireless which operates under the name Flow, and Digihel, which is Digicel. There's a long back story. We used to have the Jamaica Telephone Company which charged a flat rate. Then Gilbert Hurricane tore down the wires and C&W went to buy it. To hide the fact the government was selling our phone company to a private company, there was the clever trick of making it a public company and inviting citizens to buy shares. C&W had it's puppet buy 90%. So there were share holder's meeting and elections and eventually C&W stepped forward and bought up all the shares and put it's puppet as Chairman. There was a lot of public outcry. A new cell service, Digicel arrived and everyone raced to be a customer. Digicel was more expensive and a dry weather net work.. but we still loved it more than Careless and Worthless. To escape that name, the company became Lime, and was soon known as Slime. It then changed again to Flow. Hurricane Beryl came on the 4th of July. Everything went down, electricity, phone, internet. But C&W came up on the 5th of July. Digicel's Internet service returned on the 25th of July. It's cell phone service has just returned on the 21st of August. Having been a loyal moron of Digihel I kept begging for the return of service. On the 20th of August I made my last contact via Internet. When they asked if I was the only one effected I told them; "Well everyone has gone to Flow, so I suppose I might as well.." Service returned.

Well, your underlying threat in that statement made them act. Unfortunate that many businesses take customer satisfaction for granted. These names Careless and Worthless for a company are funny. You have coined it well

even before the Cell phones came in, and C&W was our only landline that's what we called it. but the reality is that those who had Flow had service and those with Digicel didn't. And Flow, taking advantage put up a bunch of bargains, and people bought a Flow Sim chip... so by it's tardiness people did go. I have a burner phone and 2 chips... so I had Flow... but didn't tell Digicel that.
