Health Matters: Ever tried using a Sunrise alarm clock?

I've never heard of sunrise alarm clocks before. Traditional alarm clocks can sometimes cause stress due to sudden wake-ups and I've read about how pretty interesting these sunrise alarm clocks are. They can mimic the natural light of a sunrise to wake you up gently, gradually increasing the light intensity in your room, simulating a natural sunrise.
They can also help regulate your circadian rhythm (wait, what does that even mean?) and make waking up feel more natural and less jarring. I can't imagine starting the day with a simulated sunrise instead of a blaring alarm. But since I'm a deep sleeper, I'm still not so sure if this works for me.
I have set multiple alarm times in my phone and all it did was to wake me up a bit to turn it off, and that's it. I just go back to sleep. There was even a time when I was still in college, and all my roommates were already awake because of my alarm clock while I'm still swimming in my dreams. Next thing that happened was the landlord confiscated my alarm clock because the disturbance it caused.
How about you, do you think sunrise alarm clocks would really make mornings more pleasant for anyone?
