At the Alapachee High School in Winder, Georgia a 14-year-old boy went on a shooting spree, Four are dead and nine in the hospital. Also 30 people were injured. The high school had received a threat by phone. Students gathered on the football field to pray. Is this how students are welcomed back to school today????

How heart-breaking.
If the school received a threat by phone, they should have immediately alerted the police and begun an evacuation.
I remember there was a 'threat' made at a park near our son's high school, years ago. It was a note found on a piece of paper, it did state his school and the so-called date of the alleged incident that they were planning.
The school took this very seriously and together with the local police they came up with a plan to draft a letter to all parents explaining the threat and that it was optional to send the students to school on that day. If they went there would be many police officers there to check bags and backpacks and parents should remain available if they receive a call to retrieve their student.
Our son stayed at home, nothing happened on that day.

@Juliaacv these days any kind of threat is given the authorities should be called right away. Glad your son's school was on top of things at that time,

We have to start being proactive when it comes to our youth's mental health.

And, of course nothing is going to be done about it. Because cell phones are the problem. I just give up.

That's really sad. Parents will always fear sending their children to school.

That’s heartbreaking and deeply unsettling. It’s tragic to see such violence disrupt what should be a time of learning and safety. My thoughts are with everyone affected by this terrible event. It’s devastating to think that something like this could happen anywhere, especially in a place meant for growth and education.
