I went to see my Mum in hospital again today. There was a new lady in the bed next to my Mum today. She must have come in yesterday after we'd left. Her name is Barbara too, so now they've got two Barbaras! This lady was in a bad way. She was lying on the bed with almost nothing on, and she kept lifting her legs up! The nurses put a sheet over her, but she just kicked it off again and continued to show off her legs! She was also moaning and groaning something rotten. My Mum says she's like that all the time, except when she's asleep at night. That's why I know she must have come in yesterday after we'd left. My Mum said the doctor had been and checked her over and said he thought it was fine for her to go home. Then a physiotherapist came in to talk to Mum about the care package. She said the nurses were concerned that she didn't want a care package. She said she didn't want to force her, but she said it would be better if she went home with a care package and then decided it wasn't needed than to go home without one and then discover that she did need one after all, because then it would be harder to arrange it. She told my Mum to discuss it with us and then decide what she wanted to do. But Mum says it's the timing that she doesn't like. They might not come at the same time each day, and what if they come at 8:00am and she didn't want to get up yet, or if they came at 10:00am on a Sunday when Mum would want to be at church? Or if they came at night on a Wednesday when she wants to go to the house group? So my Mum decided that she still didn't want a care package. The physiotherapist went home at 4:00pm, so Mum couldn't tell her her decision today. She might come home tomorrow, or they might leave it till after the weekend. I don't know. Today they had smooth radio on, on the TV. They played a few songs I like, like Time of my Life from Dirty Dancing and Alone by Heart. The nurses came in to change the mattress of the lady in the bed next to my Mum, Barbara. The pulled the curtain round to do it. The other Barbara, the one who likes to be called Barbie, with the red hair, in a bed over the other side of the room, had a visitor come in. I presume it was her son. She said she wanted to go to the toilet and she was trying to get out of bed. Her visitor kept putting her legs back onto the bed and asking her if she was going to behave herself! She had some cuddly toys on her bed. She had a large Tweety Pie, a brown seal and a Teddy Bear. When her visitor left, she got the Teddy Bear and started making cooing noises at it. I turned round to look at her, and she waved the bears arm and said "Hello!" in a squeaky voice! She started trying to get out of bed again, and I think she got into the chair next to her bed. She pressed her alarm button, but then she was holding the thing like a phone and talking into it! The nurse came in and she couldn't help laughing! Did you think it was a phone? she asked. Barbie told her she wanted to go to the toilet, and the nurse said, You've got a catheter, you don't need to go! That does the work for you! We didn't hear a peep out of the other lady in the fourth bed. She was sitting in her chair by the bed reading or something. My Mum still had the grapes from yesterday on her table, so we ate some more of those. I took some mini cheddars with me, and I ate those. It was very hot, even though one of the windows were open, so I got out my fan and started fanning myself! When we got up to go home, and we were walking to the door, Barbie shouts out, No! Don't leave me! And that was today's visit to see my Mum in hospital. What have you lot been getting up to today? I hope you are all well. Have a great night.

It is wonderful that your mom might come home soon. That’s fantastic! The other things sound very depressing, sadly.

@LindaOHio No, not yet. We thought she might be coming out yesterday, but she didn't. ? I don't know when she'll be coming home now, but hopefully in the next couple of days.

Hope she comes home soon. I understand how she feels about carers. When you are relying on other people you are really at their beck and call.
