Flora and Fauna: Giraffes and having a super long neck

I'm not sure what I was exactly thinking earlier but, have you ever considered how giraffes’ long necks evolved not just for reaching high leaves but also for social and competitive purposes? I've seen some footage of them using their necks during mating season and it’s amazing to think about how a single trait can serve multiple functions in an animal’s survival and social structure.

Again, the necks are also important during fights. Furthermore, the help them see danger from far!
