Dear all, Do you easily recognize sarcasm or satire/parody over the internet? Quite honestly I sometimes don't. Some things, like The Onion,or Babylon Bee, are readily apparent as satirical. However, when just some random Joanna or Joe is trying THEIR hand at parody/satire/snarkiness, sometimes it's lost on me.

I rely a lot on sound. If someone is speaking and being sarcastic, I can usually pick up the implied tone. However, If it's over text, I don't always pick it up as well.

I'm not sure if I would know if someone was being satirical or expressing their true thoughts, I was curious about this so I found this online.

I have noticed sometimes people don’t understand rhetorical questions. That’s not sarcasm, but your question made me think of it. I think I’m pretty good at recognizing sarcasm, but there are always exceptions when I’m like, ooohhhh… The Horse got me once, that’s for sure.

Sometimes it's hard to pick up someone's intention through the written word. Have a good day.
