Those of us who grew up in the ancient days of freedom and independence are stunned by the imprisonment of this generation. Where we walked ourselves to school at 6 they are being taken by mommy at the age of 16. Where we took ourselves to various venues at 14 be it a movie a museum a fair, they can't go to the shop on the corner alone. Now as they enter college those who will leave home are going to face the enormity of having to make their own decisions.

There is too my violence around to be free now. I don´t dare walk out of my house alone now so I started to have walking dissabilities.

In Boomer days there were gangs on every corner and the murder rate was high. It was the fear that was low. People weren't afraid. Today people are terrified. It is the fear, not the statistics which has parents imprison their kids.

@marguicha check statistics. I checked in NYC because I'd done some investigation on how the police divided up the area so that each gang had its 'territory' and that they would be 'responsible' for crime in their area. You have to check your statistics to see crime vs population to be certain if there was an increase. In Jamaica previous to the 70s most murders were with machetes
