A to Z Movies I Grew Up With: A

Yes, another A to Z list. But this one has nothing to do with music. This series instead will share twenty six of the movies that I grew up watching. Movies were a large part of my growing up years. Don't get me wrong, I spent a lot of time outside. But I also lived in the Pacific Northwest and well, the weather was not always conducive to being outside. So there was a lot of movies. Between that and the fact that I spent a lot of time at my grandparents house, who didn't have cable till I was in middle school. There were a lot of VHS tapes. I remember two ceiling high shelves packed full of VHS throughout my childhood. Aristocats. I'm sure if you're familiar with Disney movies, you are familiar with this one. It's about a Tom cat, and a "higher class" cat and the different worlds they live in. It's got the always popular "Everybody wants to be a cat" musical number. If you've had or worked with kids, you probably now have that song stuck in your head. (Sorry, not sorry). Thinking about the premise of the movie now (as an adult) makes me laugh a little bit. But I know that I watched this movie over and over as a kid, and then over and over again when I was a teenager and started baby sitting. I have always been a animal lover, and thankfully a lot of the Disney movies feature animals, so I watched a lot of animal related cartoons. Remember I was born in 1990 so this is when Cartoons were still cartoons, and weren't trying to necessarily teach kids about things that kids don't really need to know about. I don't think I was aware till I looked it up in preparation to write this post that this movie is from 1970. Which explains a lot. It's very much a classic Disney movie, with classic Disney values and story telling. I have included the trailer to this movie, which I plan on doing for all twenty six of these movie posts, in case you are not familiar with the movie. Or because you might just wanna take a trip back to your own childhood.

I remember the trailer but we mostly went for live-action Disney. (The noted exception being Robin Hood, but Roger Miller did music and voiced a character in it, so it was required. )

I know the movie well and I love it. I have a collection of Disney videos that I have not watched in a long time, Perhaps it's time to take a weekend morning like I did as a kid and watch some cartoons,
