I'm just wondering how many people like to crochet or knit toys? I have only made one little amiguri doll. I am starting on a crochet care bear, they look really cute. The pattern is a little advanced, but I think it will workout.

I crochet and have the book for the big care bears but haven't settled down and made them yet. I am thinking about it but then that would take time away from mylots, lol. So far, I haven't crocheted any stuffed animals or dolls. I have the patterns for the most adorable and shocking realistic stuffed cats. They are so cute. I am always complaining about not having really good patterns. Me thinks the problem might be that I like looking for patterns more than actually crocheting..

I crocheted a small bear for my baby this summer. I had a simple knit pattern from a TV show. It originally was made in simple stocking knit and the pattern just gave sizes in inches so I just did it in simple single crochet. But when I got to where there should be a skirt I made up a skirt then crocheted the two pieces together and continued on. I made a ballerina bear and added a tail and nose (not part of the pattern). It turned out pretty good and was a learning experience. I was making it on the fly. Now I think I know how I can improve on the design.

Amigurumi is one of my favorite types of crochet. My first ever was an elephant I made back in about 1984. Recently I've made 2 elephants, some teddy bears, 3 cupcakes, and I knitted a lion.

Wow! You've been busy. You must be a pro at this by now. I'm still learning.

I have crocheted the Winnie the Pooh series! LOVE it! It's different from the care bear pattern book (which I also have) because the arms and legs and all the parts are crocheted/joined right in, instead of being sewn together, which for me makes a huge difference in the finished project for me because I can't sew! LOL

Was that the classic pooh or the disney pooh? That would be really great to crochet it all together, I am not great at sewing the arms and legs either.

It's the Disney one. I cannot for the life of me sew the arms and legs on to these crocheted animals. Well, I can but not tightly, and I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my projects so though they look great to others, they don't look great to me.

I never sew my projects together. I join them by crocheting the pieces together. Doesn't look quite as nice but it is a strong bond.

I've never made toys...but I have made afghans & other things. Where do you find patterns for toys? It sounds like something fun I would like to try. :)

Thank you for letting me know where I can find the patterns. I'll have to go look for them next time I'm at the store. :)

I bought the pattern for the care bears dolls at Walmart and have seen them at all craft stores. They are really nice.

I am planning to make some toys for my baby. For example, stuffed blocks and balls. I have been crocheting for 16 years so I tend to make whatever I can make a pattern for. I am not one who like to make stuffed animals since my kids have too many as it is. Check out my pictures, there are some of my crocheting projects.

That sounds like a project that would be frustrating to me! I have too many small children running around here to need to follow a pattern. It takes quite a bit of concentration to do something that complex. Hats off to you!

I crochet, but not toys. Not sure why, just isn't what I care to do I guess.

I have made a LOT of toys over the years. I have a pattern and it takes about 2 hrs to completely make the bear. When we spent a lot of time in emergency rooms for my husband, I could usually complete at least one ro two of them at a time. I gave them to our senior center for christmas presents. I love making stuff, make sweaters, afghans, toys, clothes, baskets, and have the books and patterns to show for it. I taught my husband -to- be at the time how to crochet. He already knew how to knit. He fell the day after I met him, and broke his foot. It was Nov, so I crocheted him a tootsie warmer, and taught him how to crochet. He then went on to make many many items, pillows, doilies, afghans. Grandson will pick out some yarn and say "I want an elephant (green) or what ever." Now I give a new baby a bear for their birthday.
