Entertaining guests in the good old days gave me a lot of satisfaction We had guests that stayed with us for days. We had visitors who ate with us. For all this we needed the cuttlery and corckery that we collected and today most of it is languishing in the cupboard
We no longer desire guests to spend days with us and nor are there any who eat with us
That once a year party that is organised for poor kids is where neigbours, friends and family are invited.
What about you?

What we do now is have my mother over for gatherings . . . that started last year. We used to have family gatherings at my parents' house as that was most easiest for them. But since my father passed away, my sister has become a sour family member. So entertaining for us means just my mom - and that's fine with us. We have a very small house and do not have much room to do big entertaining anyway.
