microsoft sure has guts to stand against open source.. we can do without microsoft but people who r not related to computer feild find it difficult with open source coz as far as i know microsoft is best at user friendly than linux[dont know about recent versions]... microsoft also aims the lame and also the people who dont understand english [probably who know their mother tounge better than english] to make a huge sales..where as we dont have linux in all the languages.... so all i can say is tat microsoft is not gonna giveup so soon and a lot more people need to know wat is open source

there are some decent open source software applications. I use open office as it handles more than microsoft office.

Surely, this business world can really do without Microsoft. Microsoft OS or products are used in small scale or mid sized companies. But if you see Large scale companies, who are the rulers of the market, its all Open Source products like Linux, etc..... These Open Source systems are heavily used for networking as MS OS are not reliable and stable...

I think, without Microsoft, a lot would just shut down. I know my work place would....and so would I. IE is the only explorer I have ever used, and I am very happy with all Microsoft products I have used, well except one. I did not like ME at all and I know a lot of people who would agree with me on that one.

Even Microsoft has realized that it has to change it's business model to accomodate open source. Which is one of the reasons it is working on XML recently - what they call "the language of information interchange" and "facilitates universal data access" (microsoft.com). I think we will see people using a combination of platforms and time will tell how we integrate them.
