So, last night we were supposed to be having a pink moon. I saw the moon last night and it was very bright but definitely not pink. I wonder if the pink was only visible for a short time? Did you see the moon last night?

It wasn't colored pink. It is called a 'Pink Moon' because it happens right after a certain type of pink flower blooms in spring.

They showed pictures of a pink haze around it. Unless they were just for dramatic effect. I read about it now, it is more likely to be white or golden

“Pink” moon is its name, like “blue moon.” All the full moons have names, believe it or not.

Really? I would have not known that. Now the harvest moon is actually orange, I have heard tales of a blood red moon too.

@snowy22315 — here’s a list of the names, from the Old Farmer’s Almanac.

It wasn't supposed to be pink, that's just what the Indians called it long ago, and the name stuck. This is per NASA: "April’s full moon is called the Pink Moon after the herb moss pink, one of the early flowers of spring – not because of the color of the moon."

@snowy22315 It is pretty interesting to see how they got the names for these moons!

I read that the colour of that full moon wasn't going to be pink. But it would appear much smaller because of the distance.

Actually, the moon was very bright and seemed closer to me. I think the pink might have only been visible for a short period of time. What I read said 8:22.

I do not remember seeing the pink moon last night since the pink moon would be seen in Central America according to internet reports from that region.

perhaps it would be more appropriate to call it a "micro moon" because it is the smallest.
