Most you use Firefox, Chrome or Edge. You search using Google. You have Facebook accounts.
Years ago, when the Internet became commercially available, that would be 1990 for some, 1995 for Jamaica, the ability to hack into accounts was so simple, one didn't need much skill.
Simply put, if just about 'everybody' used Netscape then creating a 'key' to that browser allowed you to get into other people's accounts.
As time passed and there were options instead of users spreading themselves the were herded into one.
Since Chrome is the most popular, getting a 'key' to that one door gives you access to about 70% of users.
Google is used by 90% so that all one needs is to come at 'the top' of a search to get that market. Hence a garbage dump like Wikipedia with its fake information fills the heads of users, and gives it a 'key' into your account by selling your searches.
As the most used browsers, search engines and social networks all sell your info and are linked to each other, you are walking naked down main street.
I proved this over a decade ago by using Facebook messenger to describe a person as 'autistic'.
Shortly after that private post, articles, ads, emails, about autism filled the account i had used to join Facebook. One mention, one use of a 'charged' term, a swarm of crap.
So what do you do?
The easiest is to find an 'unknown' browser. This means that no one is wasting hours of their lives to find a hack into something 'no one' uses.
The second is to use 'unknown' search engines which aren't paid for your information.
Having a personal private email account on some unknown service while using the popular account for your online travels is a joy. You know, as you scan your inbox that all of these posts are farce.
Although there is some effort to break the monopolies online, it is wiser for you to step out of their spotlight.
