I have started calling YouTube TrumpTube. Lately, it has felt like it's being run by a very weak, extremely unstable, 78-year-old eighth-grade dropout with advanced-stage 4 dementia who lacks the business skills needed to run a successful lemonade stand and hates his customers. And he's very weird. Many times, I have clicked on a video I want to watch only to see an entirely different video start to play. And don't get me started on Recommended Videos and Notifications because they have been rapidly sliding downhill. If you did get me started on Notifications, I would start by asking, "Why isn't it divided into "Watched and "Unwatched" lists to make it easier to manage and avoid missing content I want to see, as well as making it easier to rewatch vids I want to see again?" Would that be too hard? Apparently, for a CEO who is a very weak, extremely unstable, 78-year-old eighth-grade dropout with advanced-stage 4 dementia who lacks the business skills needed to run a successful lemonade stand and hates his customers and is very weird on top of it, it is too hard. And those are just my surface observations from the consumer side. Things are just as bad or maybe even worse on the Content Creator side. I don't have a lot of exposure to that aspect because I don't produce many videos for TrumpTube but people who do have told me things and there are other things I can just see. Speaking of exposure, that's my first complaint. Girls can only show their rear view if they're wearing a thong, if they are standing in front of a pool or natural body of water, or risk being demonetized, and I think that's a dumb rule. That's the one that bugs me the most but it's far from the only one. Most of the other ones have to do with language. I don't mind the banning of hate speech but not allowing "gun," "murder," "suicide" or any form of "kill?" For reasons that aren't clear to me, I do like "unalive," which is how some get around the ban on "kill" and "suicide." An example would be, "Lenny Bruce unalived himself," instead of "Lenny Bruce killed himself, or committed suicide." Another example is, "The shooter unalived 47 people." They also have to say "SA" instead of "Sexual Assault." The justification for all these stupid restrictions is that TrumpTube thinks not having them will scare away advertisers. But videos that ignore the rules get monetized anyway---I see ads in them all the time---and the only difference is that the people who put in all the work, time, skill, and creativity into creating the content get none of the money. That should be illegal. It gets really ridiculous when you watch an informational vid about World War II and they have to blur out swastikas and bleep "Hitler." My big question there is, "Isn't that a boon to Holocaust deniers? Because they can say, 'Look, TrumpTube doesn't even allow swastikas?" Last, and worst, in my book, comes in October when my favorite TrumpTube Creator dresses in a cop costume and she can't hold a gun, even if it's an obviously fake toy gun. She can have handcuffs, which is nice, but it's not enough.
