There Was a Battle for the "Good" Table

We've been playing cards at a nearby restaurant for going on 6 years in July. We always get the same table in the back corner, well actually it's a booth, because it has four equal sides/square as opposed to all the other tables and booths that are rectangle and we'd have to sit side by side. Last week a group of four ladies we've never seen before came in to eat lunch and play cards. They wanted our table. We explained we've been coming there for six years and this was "our" table." We overheard them talking later saying they'd come earlier than us next time to get the "good table." So like a child, I went inside the restaurant today 15 minutes early (they open at 11, I went in at 10:45) just to ensure we got "our" table. I do of course realize it's first-come/first-served with tables (there aren't any reservations) and it's silly to fight over a table, but it's our usual table and I didn't want these newcomers taking over the joy of our weekly card game. The other group of four got there about 8 minutes after I did and took one of the nearby rectangle tables. I talked with the manager and he said it's our table because we've been loyal customers and he will make sure they don't get it.

They should put a "reserved" sign on it for you.

That seems silly just to play cards. But, at least no more fighting over the table.
