What did I really accomplish today?

So, we got up and did a few things—mostly puttering around the house, pretending to be productive—before heading into Geneva, Alabama. The mission? Groceries. All the stuff needed for tonight’s dinner and tomorrow’s. Spoiler alert: tonight’s dinner got bumped to tomorrow, and tomorrow’s got kicked down the road another day. Why? Because after being on the road most of the day, the idea of frying shrimp felt like trying to climb Everest in flip-flops. Nope.
We hit up Walmart, Piggly Wiggly (because duh), and a little hometown store that probably hasn’t changed since 1983. Before all that, though, we made the oh-so-important stop on the Florida/Alabama line to raid the liquor store. I got my Mother’s Day gift from Chris—a 750ml bottle of vodka and a mini shot bottle, all for under twenty bucks. Who needs a spa day when you’ve got budget booze and good parking?
Once home, we threw the groceries into the general vicinity of their proper spots, scarfed down lunch with She Child and my mother-in-law, and immediately turned around to go fetch He Child. Where was he? Back on the Florida/Alabama line, of course—basically where we’d just been, because time is a flat circle.
We picked him and his girlfriend up from her place and hauled them thirty miles to DeFuniak, where we dropped them at Walmart like a carpool mom with a mission. While they wandered the aisles like confused Sims, we hit the pharmacy (shoutout to my sleep aid finally showing up after a week of ghosting me).
Then—back to Walmart, because apparently we can’t stay away. I remembered I bought bologna the other day with grand dreams of fried bologna sammiches, but forgot we were basically out of bread. Crisis averted. We parked it in the lot and waited a good half hour for the kids to reemerge from the retail vortex.
Naturally, they needed drinks. So off to Tom Thumb we went, like a family caravan fueled by caffeine and teenage thirst. By the time we made it home, I was ready to lie on the floor and just be.
From about 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., it felt like we were on a nonstop mini-tour of southern Alabama. Didn’t feel like much at the time, but looking back, I think we crossed four counties and hit every store that sells anything edible or flammable.
Once home (again), we had a little sit-down chat with MIL and She Child, then went outside to check on our crops (they’re not dead—score!), walked Rebel, and had a smoke break that felt more like a victory lap.
Now I’m doing some freelance work, catching up on my games, scribbling in my planner like I have my life together, and watching Righteous Gemstones—because why not have a little televangelist chaos with your evening?
Honestly, I feel like we did a million things today... even if 90% of it was driving around, waiting in parking lots, and dodging the urge to make dinner. But hey—tomorrow’s a lazy day, and I’m treating that like a national holiday.
So, what did you accomplish today? Or are you also riding the hot mess express?

I remember running around with six children going six directions. Driving all over the place. You had a nice day and children make life great.

I dont know how you did it with six. Two is more than enough. And yes children make life good, but they also frustrate and aggravate.

Sounds like you had quite the eventful day, even if it was mostly running around! But hey, sometimes it's those kinds of chaotic days that end up being the most memorable. I'm all about that lazy day tomorrow—totally agree, it should be a national holiday! As for me, I’m definitely on the hot mess express today too, just catching up on some work and enjoying the quieter moments.
