Divorce - Did your parents stay married?

After last night’s fireworks, it got me thinking..
Although my Dad evened the score ever so nicely, WHY in the heck should he have to pay bills here, if he doesn’t even get any say-so in whether or not to put the air-conditioning on?
Why should he have to sweat bullets up here at his age, and pay the bills (including air) yet my mom won’t let him turn it on.
It’s gonna be another hot mofo day here, with no air on.
I’m getting out soon, the apartment called.
But he’ll be left here to suffer. Um, no. I won’t have it.
Woke up this morning and got an idea. I’m getting a 2-bedroom apartment. This was just in case I didn’t feel safe and I’d have my ex-fiancé move in with me. It would be like having a guard dog.
He loves attacking anything or anyone that tries to come near me. His weapon of choice has always been a baseball bat.
But instead, I thought… why not take my Dad with me?
I made our morning coffee and took his cup to him as usual, and I just randomly hit him with, “Hey Daddy, why don’t you just come live with me? 24/7 barbecuing, air on full blast, much closer to the store, no more of mom’s constant nagging, pure freedom. Do you want that? With me?”
He thought about it, and I chimed in with, “You’ll get the Master Suite. You deserve it. Walk-in shower, the works. It’s all yours. Don’t pay the bills here anymore. Help me pay them at the apartment instead.”
And he said………….
LET’S DO IT.

So looks like I’ll have a roommate after all.
Will this end in divorce for my mom and Dad?
I don’t know. I just know we’re getting out of this hell hole. Together.
Did your parents stick together? Divorce? Separate?
See y’all later. Only 2 studies today, one on site.
This job always slows down over the weekend, and that’s good. Got some speed-packing to do.
Have a great Friday & weekend!

My parents divorced. My dad had a roving eye. Funny story: I kicked him out of the house. I gave him that line he used to throw at us as kids (“you won’t do that under MY roof!”), and since I own the house, out he went when I caught him cheating on my mom.

That’s exactly how I would feel. For some reason, I don’t think I’d give 2 hoots if my mom had an extra guy on the side.. but if I ever saw my Dad with some floozy, I’m honestly afraid I would kill her.
Thanks @FourWalls
Love the reversal of power you used there.

@Melanie_Marie — there’s an old saying:
“Make your words warm, tender, and sweet
For they may one day be the words you must eat”

My parents divorced when I was about 25 years old.
They stayed together until my sister was 16 and had left school.
They stayed together way too long.
They divorced and then both married other people

That’s good, at least they’re happy now. (I assume.) Thanks Jim
