I moved into a new apartment, and was excited to find that Google Fiber was available in my area. I called and got an account started then went to one of their locations to pick up the equipment and got it all set up at home. It worked great and a couple weeks later I decided to get some home security equipment. The security equipment only connects to 2.4 GHZ wifi network band. Usually your router will let you seperate the bands if they aren't seperate by default. However, Google decided to make them one band and set it up so your devices pick the best network for you. This is a problem because there is no way to choose to use the 2.4 band. I read online that the guest network only used 2.4, but that didn't seem to be the case for me. I called their tech support and the agent wanted me to go outside because being far from the router would make it so I can only use the 2.4 since that extends out further. Why should I have to jump through hoops to get access to both bands? Why take freedom away from users on their wifi network? Why not give us a choice? We should be able to opt out if desired. I cancelled the next day and got a new ISP who lets you actually access both bands like they should.
